New claims for jobless aid fell less than expected last week, and the number of people continuing to receive unemployment benefits rose further signs that any economic recovery will be hindered by a weak job market and flat incomes.

..he’s very, . . very busy..., we shouldn’t aax him to help us everytime.

Christmas retail sales are going to be a slaughterhouse.
I wonder what the happy talkers will use as excuses or, perhaps by then, the happy talk will have died.
This headline under a Republican President would read, “Economy Still In Free Fall, Jobless Claims Higher Than Expected”.
And we still have a commercial credit bubble on the horizon, the easy credit policies enacted by the Democrats in the late 1990s that created this mess are still in effect, which means that banks that receive bailouts are forced to jump right back into the same deep, dark pit of sub-prime paper.
But that’s okay... Our President will speechify us out of this mess.
It must be a mistake. Biden says that Obama’s stimulus has created or saved millions of jobs. Based on that you’d think that jobs would be leading this recovery.
hey Obama, we have the cure if you want
Lets see you have a company of 120 employees and month 1 you layoff 40 that’s 33%. Then in month 2 you layoff 24 employees that’s 30% of your remaining workforce and 40% less than the 40 you layed off the month before. Now month 3 you layoff 15 of your remaining workforce that is about 27% of your remaining workforce and close to 45% less than you let go the month before. Now you have only 41 people left working out of 120 is that change you can believe in?
What recovery?
Good-bye Sears and K-mart....inside scoop is that a lousy Christmas this year will send them the way of Woolworths and Monkey Wards. That’s gotta add another 0.5-0.9 to the jobless numbers.
Sears sent me a, "Dear Valued Member", a statement outlining all the changes coming to my Sears charge card/account...increased interest rates, increased late charges and etc.
I called Sears monday and cancelled my charge card. They asked why because I was an excellent paying customer, never late and in fact owed nothing now.
I said, "I don't trust all the 'fine print' in the recent 'changes' statement."
I was half-way expecting him to say I owed a cancellation fee.
To hell with them.
Instead of talking about the beginning of a depression, we are talking about the end of a recession,” Biden said in a speech at the Brookings Institution.
Now that makes us all feel much better! If Biden says anything without flubbing his words it must be so....
