I think he was making more fun of himself, that Palin did not consult him. The worst part of McCain’s performance was his suggesting that he might support Obama’s health care reform.
Don’t dismiss the possibility of McCain and other republicans supporting “Obama’s” health care bill. It depends on what’s in the final bill. Obama desparately needs to get healthcare legislation passed in a manner that doesn’t reinforce the impression that he’s ramrodding socialism down our throats. A very tall order. His vocal chords and campaign slogans are useless to him now.
His biggest strategic mistake was trying to pass a healthcare bill so quickly. Very presumptuous. That’s the lesson he should have learned from the Hillorycare experience. Also, everyone knows he’s lied about what’s in the bill.
Karl Rove wrote this in his latest WSH column:
“Of the 46 million uninsured, 9.7 million are not U.S. citizens; 17.6 million have annual incomes of more than $50,000; and 14 million already qualify for Medicaid or other programs. That leaves less than five million people truly uncovered out of a population of 307 million.”
Could that be true?
