Uh...Well, no. DNA from bite wounds has been used to convict people for years, even in cases where the DNA was collected back in the 1980s but techniques for analyzing it didn't come along until much later.

This blog has an eyewitness account that confirms that someone’s finger was bitten off, and says the person biting off the finger was a “pro-reform” (Move-On follower) who had been attacked first.
