Right blasts Obama speech to students
President Barack Obama's plans for a televised back-to-school address to students next week are drawing fire from some conservatives, who say he's just trying to indoctrinate them to his political beliefs.
In the Sept. 8 speech, Obama will challenge students to work hard, set goals for their education and take responsibility for their learning, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said in a letter to principals.
The Education Department is encouraging teachers to create lesson plans around the speech, using materials provided on the department website, that urge students to learn about Obama and other presidents.
"He will also call for a shared responsibility and commitment on the part of students, parents and educators to ensure that every child in every school receives the best education possible so they can compete in the global economy for good jobs and live rewarding and productive lives as American citizens," Duncan said in a press release.
But already, some conservatives are crying foul. The chairman of the Florida Republican Party is condemning Obama's speech as an attempt to "indoctrinate America's children to his socialist agenda."
"The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power," Chairman Jim Greer said in a press release.
Added conservative talk show host Tammy Bruce, in a Twitter feed: "Make September 8 Parentally Approved Skip Day. You are your child's moral tutor, not that shady lawyer from Chicago." And conservative author Michelle Malkin said the lesson plans have a "heavy activist bent."
Texas school districts are discussing whether the president's speech will be shown-some districts are leaving it up to individual teachers with an opt out parents who don't want their children to view the speech, according to the Houston Chronicle.
In his letter to principals, Duncan said viewing of the speech is encouraged, not mandatory. It's the first time a president has ever given a speech addressed directly to students.
Imagine the horror across public screwel land when youngsters showed up on September 9th quoting Rush and Glenn. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I think it goes way beyond that. They are wacky when they are out of power and down right dangerous when they are in power.
Keep the children home on the 8th.
Many parents can’t leave them at home. Leaving them with relatives, friends, a known day care, etc. should do it.
And maybe think about leaving them with someone and attending the video feed yourself, to monitor how the teacher presents it.
How about September 8 as “Take Your Kid To the Range” Day
Yes she is fat as a pig. Are you fat? I’m not. People of discipline and quality don’t stuff their face until they look pregnant. I have no respect fot the fat. Do you?
I hate this video more every time I see it. I especially despise the unbelieveably dumb ass liberal retard parents smiling & approving in the background. I hope they’ve lost all their jobs by now.
I don’’t like fat women. When I was a child and we had real education instead of politically correct baby sitting we had highly educated senior men as principals and things got done. Now we just have holding tanks for idiots led by fat women, yep fat women. The one at our school is real fat and can’t pour water(sic) out of a boot.
Anything is possible in a socialist school system that preaches & teaches totalitarian allegiance & servitude to the commie pig 0bozo. I have read (on FR) that some schools will be taping 0bozo's speech and have it available to be shown at a later time. I strongly suspect that by the time all this is said & done, 0bozo's propoganda indoctrination speech will have been shown to over 90% of the school kids attending public AND Catholic private schools, within the next two weeks or less.

That’s nothing a nice shot of Haldol won’t cure.
Speaking as someone who worked Psych, these kinds of paranoid delusions (enemies look a certain way, etc.) are easily controlled.
See your doctor.

The original lesson plan from the Dept. of Education included suggesting the students list their favorite obama quotes. My sister said her children were gonna write their favorites were “Don’t get all wee wee’d up” and “I’ve now visited 57 states.”
Aw man!!! Did I miss playing with the troll????? I was too busy stuffing my fat face. NOT! Well, my face is fat. Tons of steroids will do that to ya.
My 12year old son will come down with an unexplained sudden illness

Apparently, teachers have been provided with follow-up lesson plans and discussion points (that may go on for days after?).
I did not realize there were accompanying lesson plans ('talking points'). Searched for them and here is what I found: (though now I understand these have been modified and possibly even rescinded. NOTE: my immediate school district set forth:
In regards to having instructional activities tied to President Obamas speech, we are not going to do this. A brief discussion about the speech may be fine, but we are telling parents that no instructional activities/assignments are going to be administered. The local school board also stated that were taping the speech for review and may or may not show it Wed Sep 9. Parents would be notified because of the vast, vast inquiries on this subject.
Menu of Classroom Activities President Obamas Address to Students Across America (PreK‐6)
Before the Speech
Teachers can build background knowledge about the President of the United States and his speech by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama. Teachers could motivate students by asking the following questions:
Who is the President of the United States?
What do you think it takes to be president?
To whom do you think the president is going to be speaking?
Why do you think he wants to speak to you?
What do you think he will say to you?
Teachers can ask students to imagine that they are delivering a speech to all of the students in the United States.
If you were the president, what would you tell students?
What can students do to help in our schools?
Teachers can chart ideas about what students would say.
Why is it important that we listen to the president and other elected officials, like the mayor, senators, members of congress, or the governor? Why is what they say important?
During the Speech ..

I have no need to “take” anything. I don’t have underlying self doubt that makes me feel the need for insult of others to smooth my own ego.
You however, displayed by your paranoid delusions and childish replies, need to be checked.
See your doctor.
And just an extra piece of advice. FReepers don’t throw personal insults into conversations. We don’t make blanket statements about others looks and think it’s clever. That’s for the Democratic Underground.
In fact, the mods are watching for insults that can be used against us by the MSM. Understand that.
I know you haven’t been here very long, but it’s always a good idea to refrain from getting personal to win an argument. It makes one look silly and puts one’s opinions in doubt.
It is good that the schools are going to review what he says. Frankly, the President should be trusted to give a message to students that all Americans can support, and it shouldn’t be controversial.
Obama made it controversial when he had his Education Department post to their web site an instructional plan that included making goals on how you can help the President.
And his 7 months in office have shown him NOT TO BE TRUSTED when it comes to being non-partisan, so we have to vet everything he does.
The schools are good at this, they love making sure valedictorians don’t say anything about God in their speeches.
