Charles Gibson, the anchor of ABC’s “World News,” is stepping down from the position at the end of this year. Diane Sawyer, the longtime “Good Morning America” host, will be his replacement. She will start in January.
Mr. Gibson made the decision after long conversations with the president of ABC News, David Westin, the network said. “World News” has been finishing second in the ratings behind NBC’s “Nightly News” with Brian Williams.
With Ms. Sawyer’s ascension to “World News,” two of the three network evening newscasts will be anchored by women. Katie Couric took over the “CBS Evening News” in 2006.
“You’re going to have, for the first time ever, two women competing as solo anchors in a television framework that just — within living memory — sort of destroyed every woman who tried to do it,” said Richard Wald, a former news executive at ABC and NBC.

There really are people who want the major networks to get out of the news business entirely aren’t there? It’s crazy. If there’s an emergency they have to be able to break in and pass along information.
The captain of the Titanic is going below decks and is turning over control of the ship to the first mate. The ship will continue its present course and no difficulties are foreseen. That is all.
Uh oh... call the Diversity Czar.... an open position filled by a white woman - no way! ABC has no right to fill the position without it being given permission by the Czar....get with the program ABC

I can barely tolerate any of them (Sawyer, Couric, Gibson, etc.) for more than 30 seconds. They are truly wretched pod-people.
Who watches them?
ABC could have went off the air yesterday and I would not have noticed. YAWN!
