School districts across Texas are pondering whether they'll have their students watch a national address by President Barack Obama next week.
The speech on the importance of education is aimed directly at the nation's school children at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
In the Wylie school district in suburban Dallas, spokeswoman Susan Dacus says officials are leaving the decision to individual teachers. She says parents who don't want their children to see it can opt out. In Houston, each school will decide.
In a letter last week to the nation's school principal, Education Secretary Arne Duncan said the speech would challenge students to work hard, set educational goals and take responsibility for their learning.

Its the liberals, mostly, that clamor for separation between Church and State. Well, here is a clear case: Church of Obamunism, PBUH, and public, aka State, schools.
Isn’t it time for parents to organize a NATIONAL campaign to pull their kids out of school on that day? If I had kids I would not let them hear/see this P.O.S.!

Why does this have to be a live broadcast? WHy must all schools halt at the appointed time to listen to Dear Leader? It doesn’t accommodate children or the families very well.
Why not tape a message and send it to the schools, any parent wanting to see it can screen it. Then on some appointed schedule, let those want to see it do so.
This whole commandeering the networks or schools thing maximizes the attention called the Dear Leader and prevents a person from deciding whether or not they want to be exposed to ‘the treatment’.
Just show it select URBAN schools and leave the students who already know the importance of education out of it.
We need separation of school and state.
I did see another post about “National Keep Our Children Home From School” day.
Call your local schools...and work your way up the ladder to the admin office and the school board members. Let them know that participating in building a cult of personality around the President is NOT what democracies do. Make your voice heard.
And, yes, it does get tiring. Health care, cap and tax, immigration, card check. So many battles on so many fronts. But if the liberals can fight on all those fronts, so can we...and we must.
Emails are viral,,,get on the email and send to everyone you know who has kids and ask them to spread it, When half the children get the “blue flu” on that day and dont show up, it will send a resounding message.

Except that those students who refrain from beign indoctrinated WILL have their names submitted to hte whitehouse for future persecution and intimidation!
Has Dear Leader discovered a hole in the information his administration is gathering on the populace?
Recall other threads that detailed how Obama was requiring highspeed cable access companies across the US to report the addresses of each of their high speed internet users? Recall the ‘fishy’ website? Now fill in the computerized lists of parents of school aged children choosing NOT to have their children watch THE ONE. No, I don’t know if the schools will be asked to provide information on opt-outs to anyone. I just know that opt outs are likely to be tracked by computer or perhaps allowing parents to opt out online. And I know this administration has a creepy interest in reporting support (all those supporters he got to give him their emails prior to the election) and objection (fishy.gov) etc.
Has there ever been a president that basically required a family to tell the school information about their politics so distinctly? If you are in a blue area and don’t want your child taunted - do you HAVE to just ‘let’ your kid go to the broadcast? Socially - it causes families to identify themselves as pro or anti Obamist. Schools and school unions are ‘pro’. That is so wrong.
Maybe this will ‘help’ pro Obama educators identify children that need ‘remediation’ so that they will have extra attention or assignments to ‘help’ them adopt the attitudes of their peers.
I emailed the following to my school board, principal, teacher: Please feel free to copy and paste if you think it will help the cause:
To Whom it May Concern:
When it comes to teaching my child about personal responsibility and life goals, I have determined that I am a far better teacher of those objectives than a President who has chosen to surround himself with known anarchists, communists, and terrorists.
Therefore, (child’s name) will be removed from school on September 8, 2009, during the time period in which Obama will be invading (his/her) school and trampling on my child’s privacy. (Child’s name) is being removed in order in ensure she is not corrupted by the propaganda that will be shown in her class room.
In addition, Obama has not asked my permission to speak to my child who is a minor, and I have not seen any of the curriculum which is expected to be handed out and discussed during this time. Further, you have not asked my permission for my (daughter/son) to view Obama’s speech, nor asked my permission to had out curriculum, which is not part of (school name) normal curriculum.
You are violating my child’s right to privacy. Please advise when Obama will be invading (school name) so that I may pick my (child’s name) up before the socialist indoctrination of our children begins.
I will return (childs name) to school when Obama’s invasion of our public schools has concluded.
