100 years ago, enviro wackos would probably be screaming about the “unabated growth of invasive coral”.

Still, it’s an incredible treasure.

The opening line has in it ... “Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest living organism, ...”

That tells me all I need to know that the article is religious — organicism — propaganda.

Based on no evidence except common sense, I predict that the Great Barrier Reef will be around in some manner, shape, and form long after a worm has crawled through the eye socket of the last person on Earth. Just a guess, but I will give odds.

There are areas of coral die-off, mostly near the regions where rivers carry both silt and fertiliser runoff into the ocean. The only way to prevent that is to ban all human activity in the region. My guess is, as agriculture will continue, the Greens will settle for a band-aid. They will attempt to prevent fishing and tourism on the Reef.

I’m sure some other allegedly intelligent species said the same thing about the coral reefs near modern Spitzbergen. ;’) Thanks Lucyt.
