Iceland: what ugly secrets are waiting to be exposed in the meltdown?
Telegraph (London) ^ | 15 August | Rowena Mason

For months rumours of share-ramping, market manipulation, excessive loans to their owners and unusual transfers off-shore have been circling Kaupthing, Glitnir and Landsbanki, whose failure last October left 300,000 British customers unable to access their money.

It has now become clear that this was no ordinary crash. Iceland's special investigation into "suspicions of criminal activity" at the three banks is likely to stretch from Reykjavik to London, Luxembourg and the British Virgin Islands.

A bit of a read, but, you can bet you bottom dollar that the same kind of "banking" was taking place here.

I wonder if anyone will every do the time for the crime!

No, because at the end of the day there won’t be any investigative reporters looking into it. It will just be internet bloggers pointing it out, and the guilty will be the usual suspects - well-connected Democrats, who are never guilty of anything, no matter what they do.

if there is an investigation, it will not be in the USA
where the perps are protected, in power, and have immunity.

Absolutely correct. Dishonesty is behind the entire economic crisis here. It is just waiting to be discovered...after the money has disappeared, of course.

Where have you been Leifur? Your posting has been rather sparse. We need the inside scoop on Iceland.

Sorry, I have been little down, little busy, and little overwhelmed by everything. We have lost so much, on top of these bankrupties we now have lost so much politically, our short term fight to the Social Democrats and the Left-Green movement, our independence is in jeopardy, both due to these parties admission for Iceland to join the EU and acceptance of huge claims according to EU rules on our treasury because of some alleged responsibilites on actions of private companies, basically that we have to pick up the tap for their losses.

And because of the social democrats stabbing us in the back when we were foolish enough to accept them into a coalition government we are now hellbent on accepting that deal and huge loan burdens on a previously dept free treasury just so the IMF won´t twist our arms any longer and deny us for yet more loans to try to hold up the value of our currency because of political power of all the stupid lenders that didn´t heed the central banks advice not to take on dept in other currency that you make in.

The EU seems to be even more cunning and devious enemy against freedom and liberty than I previously thought. Is there any bastion of those things left in the world?
