Has he no shame?
Of course not.
He's Charlie Rangel, head of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee -- who can't be bothered to tend to his own tax returns, but now intends to punish ordinary folks for making arguably minor mistakes on their forms.
The Post's Charles Hurt reported yesterday that Rangel's committee seeks to reduce legal defenses and increase fines and penalties on taxpayers undergoing IRS scrutiny for what they assert are innocent errors.
Among other things, Rangel's bill would even prohibit the IRS from forgiving taxpayers who erred in good faith -- though that would be a very generous interpretation of his own tax troubles.
In just the last year, Rangel has been forced to file late-disclosure reports involving millions in income from land transfers and unreported business deals.
Such transgressions should preclude Rangel from even voting on tax legislation, let alone writing any.
Indeed, we wouldn't be all that surprised in the least if there were a Charlie Rangel exclusion clause written into the IRS-crackdown bill discovered by Hurt.
Just kidding.
But it's no joke.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi needs to remove Rangel from his Ways & Means chairmanship.

I’m sure she’ll remove Rangel at the same time she starts the paperwork to remove herself for her own incompetence.
Keep dreaming. The voters of Rangel’s district will never vote him out. And does anyone really believe for a second that HRH Pelosi is going to be shamed into stripping away Rangel’s authority?
Rangel should be censured and removed from any position of authority.
But he’s only done what every other lying sociopath scoundrel on Capitol Hill does on a regular and ongoing basis.
Shame and democrats do not go hand in hand.
Rangel will never be removed by his constituents(they are black like him, just like Nancy’s SF liberal constituents).
To fire him is to admit defeat. Won’t happen.
Best thing to do is to cripple him, by keeping the pressure on that he is dishonest, corrupt, lies and is after his own good rather than citizens.
Of course he has no shame.
He’s a democrat.
He’s a liberal.
And - like many - he feels that it’s now his “right” to be a slime, crook, and overall idiot.
Shame on him - that conduct is reserved for Kennedys.
And some of you may not know it, but Rangel has waited YEARS for the chairmanship of W&Ms. This was his plan for decades.
