Two U.S. journalists held for months by North Korea for illegal entry admitted they crossed into the reclusive state but said North Korean guard arrested them on the Chinese side of the border.
In their first public account of the ordeal that was published in the Los Angeles Times web site on Tuesday, journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee of media outlet Current TV, said that when they set out, they had no intention of leaving China.
"But when our guide beckoned for us to follow him beyond the middle of the river, we did, eventually arriving at the riverbank on the North Korean side."
The two said they quickly turned back toward the Chinese side of the border and they saw armed North Korean guards chasing them.
"We were firmly back inside China when the soldiers apprehended us," they said.

Ummm ... so now they are admitting that the went into North Korea after all?
What did they expect would happen when they did this?
So nice of them to hand Kim Jong Il a propaganda victory ... I can’t say I have much sympathy for them. If you violate a police state’s borders all bets are off.
As they found out, North Korea didn’t really care which side of the border they were on and I don’t think China did either.
then they should still be in jail.
Rules are different. Doesn’t matter which side you are on.
“T”
Doesn’t matter that NK didn’t technically follow the rules. The women knowingly stepped into NK and most likely dared the NK guards not to chase them back across. As if NK would let some technically get in the way, like duuuuh. They played the game and nearly lost it all. Sorry, no sympathy.

I still believe that if one of them wasn’t related to Lisa Ling they would still be their. Bubba probably had a “thing” for her and thought this would score him some points.
borders mean nothing to DPRK guards when they feel their sacred soil has been violated, they have shown they would run right smack into South Korea chasing a Soviet defector, shooting at him all the way, and getting into a five hour shooting match with US and S. Korea troops. when they want to get somebody, they MUST, for if THEY fail, then THEY will be executed themselves. Those guards were told to bring those two women back by their unit commander, and if not they would end up in a labor camp themselves. Hence the enthusiasm to carry out the order. (if this is what really went on)
Idiots.
I can believe that.
Yep, I wouldn't believe them even if they swore on a stack of AlBore's books.
Lisa Ling is an intellectual featherweight.

Why would these two be flirting with the N.Koreans in the first place? And why were they not shot on sight instead of being chased, were they expected?
