Senator Dick Durbin Tuesday defended President Obama’s health care proposals, accusing opponents of “deliberately misstating” what has been proposed and what the package would mean to the American people “to raise emotions.”
“A lot of these people who are coming to town meetings to shove and shout, they don’t want a dialogue,” he said. “They don’t want questions answered. They are trying to create political theater for the press to report and for YouTube to provide for its followers. We need more. We need an honest debate about these issue, because it’s an important one.”
One by one, Durbin ticked off the objections opponents have raised. He said illegal immigrant care has never been included, said no one would lose insurance they have and want to keep, said that from the first, the intent has been to help small businesses afford the cost of health insurance through tax credits and other incentives, and said those who claim “death squads” are part of the package are “twisted.”
“It says that we will pay for a person to go to the doctor and have an honest, heartfelt conversation about their wishes at the end of their life,” Durbin said. “Everybody should do that.”
Durbin singled out U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) as one who has made it clear that he is out to “break” President Obama and make health care “his Waterloo.”
“Unfortunately, that’s the goal of some,” Durbin said, asking aloud how worthwhile negotiations on the health care package are with such opponents. But he added, “I hope there are those of good faith in the Republican Party who will sit down to negotiate with us and work out our differences.”
I hope not,durbin is a traitor.

This guys in the twilight zone! What we are stating is exactly what is written in the bill. Maybe they’re going to now claim that none of us in the opposition can read properly, therefore we are not going to be productive in society...so no healthcare for us!

OMG! I hope when they all get a prison term for sidestepping the vetting of the imposter potus, that part of their punishment is to recite the definition of
1) Honesty
2) Integrity
3) The US Constitution
Have them do it 500 times a day, for the term of their sentence!
Which proposal? The old one that absolutely had to pass but did not, or the new one that we get the privilege of first hearing about in yet another Obama primetime speech in the next few weeks?
I long for an articulate “gunslinger” Republican in the Senate who took it upon himself to dispute and rebut everything Durbin and Schumer said.
