Baucus under fire for bipartisan healthcare efforts
One News Now ^ | 9/1/2009 | Jim Brown

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) says his longtime friend and colleague Max Baucus (D-Montana) is feeling the heat from the White House and fellow Democrats who want to go it alone on healthcare reform instead of reaching a bipartisan compromise.

Senator Grassley is among three Republicans -- Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) -- and three Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee attempting to draft a compromise healthcare bill in the committee chaired by Max Baucus.

Grassley estimates that 45 Senate Democrats believe it is wrong that Baucus is negotiating with the three Republicans on the Finance Committee. Grassley says Baucus comes from the "Mike Mansfield position" that nothing gets done in the Senate that is not bipartisan, and there should be no procedure that keeps any point of view from being expressed.

"If I get an agreement, I have to have other Republicans go along or else I haven't negotiated a very good agreement for my party," he points out. "So consequently, I think Baucus feels a little bit his way and wants to continue to work."

Grassley says although Baucus believes there needs to be a broad, bipartisan consensus because healthcare is a life-and-death issue for every American that deals with one-sixth of the economy, he may not get his way.Senator Grassley

Grassley needs to get some new friends. Hopefully, conservative ones. His bosom buddy Baucus has an ACU rating of 8, while Grassley has 70, which should qualify the Iowan for RINO status. He's a blowhard big government simpleton.

No compromise! No damned bill!

Move on to negate the bailout bill and give the money to the citizen taxpayers.

I’m shocked, shocked, I tell you that you would say of Max Baucus . . .

“Mr. Baucus is a meathead. That’s right, a meathead!”

. . . when anybody from Montana knows he is a bonehead, that’s right, a bonehead.

I would like to see a resolution that declares that the listed folks are not acting as representatives of the Republican party and that they are formally considered turncoats and RINOs.

Perhaps there could be even stronger words, but these jerks need to be publicly chastised... BEFORE ANY VOTE.
