This isn't another dog-bites-man story. This is a dog-bites-the-deputy's-tires story.

Dang! The dog chewed all four tires.
Amazingly strong jaws...right through the steel belts and all those layers.
I had a friend whose German Shepherd chewed his way out of a chain link fence.
I had a friend who had a GSD that chewed through the window of a car while she was in the store shopping.
Well now we know what one would with one, if they caught it.
On Planet Pitbull, car tires = large economy size chew toys.
Funny thing is, the officer was there responding to the dog owner’s complaint about *another* dog!
It's more likely that he chewed through the side wall. No steel belts there and it's much thinner.
Both dogs you talked about were frantically trying to escape from a situation in which they did not want to be (apparently).
I knew someone whose Lab ate the siding off the porch. Pure boredom.
However, a dog biting the hell out of four tires for no apparent reason except aggression is not the same as (1) trying to escape or (2) boredom!
I wasn’t making excuses for the dog. I just thought I would share an interesting story. But while on the subject, the dog didn’t bite anyone, and lots of people will use old tires for their dogs to chew on, sometimes hanging them like a tire swing. It’s a great way to get a working dog’s energy out, and it isn’t just used for pit bulls. Not to mention, dogs do sometimes chase cars. Not sure if the car was moving or not, but it does happen. I have seen a Jack Russel bite the tires of a car that wasn’t moving, and of course he did no damage, being all of 14 pounds.
