Representative Charles B. Rangel failed to report hundreds of thousands of dollars in income and assets on his financial disclosure forms for 2002 through 2006, including tens of thousands of dollars in rental income from a Harlem brownstone he sold in 2004, according to records filed this month with the clerk of the House of Representatives.
Mr. Rangel, who is facing investigations by two House subcommittees into his personal finances and fund-raising, filed amended financial disclosure forms on Aug. 12 acknowledging that he had omitted an array of assets, business transactions and sources of income. They include a Merrill Lynch Global account valued between $250,000 and $500,000; tens of thousands of dollars in municipal bonds; and $30,000 to $100,000 in rent from a multifamily brownstone building he owned on West 132nd Street.
The forms require members of Congress to indicate a broad range for an assets worth rather than a specific amount, so the exact value of the unreported assets could not be determined.

Really?... on top of that little Carribean oversight. What exactly does it take to put a Liberal politicial in jail? They are astoundingly devoid of ethics, shame or accountability. Remarkable.
Republican does this and it’s front page for weeks, democrat and it’s buried on the “regional” section right behind the restaurant reviews.
Members of the jury and fellow colleagues-Wink,Wink,Nudge,
Nudge!
Move on ... nothing here ... just standard debtocrat resume enhancement.
didn’t someone call for him to resign? then again he could rape a young boy on LIVE TV and the dems would still say he is great and brown shirts are out to get him.
bump
I’d guess a verbal spanking by the NYT is about as far as this will go.
Apparently this latest disclosure was hidden on page A18 of the Slimes. His first error of ommission was a slap on the hand and had to repay $10,000 without interest and penalty. Any guess what page Senator’s Stevens lesser indiscretion was printed on? Stevens was indicted yet all we hear is a demand that Rangel give up his chairmanship with a lonely pubbie congressman asking that a Rangel rule be adopted that all taxpayers who fail to disclose earnings not pay interest or penalties.
“this article appeared in print on August 29, 2009, on page A18 of the New York edition.”
Page A-18?
I wonder where it would have been if it was Tom Delay...
I friggin’ love it! LMAO
Great pic! Thanks for posting.
The IRS is the perfect tool of a fascist government. Unlike normal citizens, politicians are never audited. (You disagree? I’ll bet you can name a friend or neighbor who has been audited, but can you cite an independent IRS investigation of a political figure in Washington?) We have created a Washington elite that like the Latin American political caste considers itself so far above, so far removed from the muchadumbre that it will never be held responsible for its illegal actions. And the IRS is the shield that protects them.
Come on. Don’t you all FORGET out properties worth millions all the time. This man should go to jail and quite frankly, it is scary the media protects these people. WHY ??
Maybe...but I think he is DOA as the continuing Chair for Ways and Means. BUT—he will be reelected easily.
Or at least get him or her removed from office. Very few laws written to address Congress critters call for their removal for violating them. IMHO, this should call for automatic expulsion from office and maybe even a lifetime ban from running again.
How about that sleazy federal judge who was impeached and removed from the court then ran for and was elected to Congress. Alcee Hastings. What a miserable example of a person to have in Congress.
America simply has to learn and understand that the days of being pretty sure that someone elected to office could be trusted to what's right are gone. Every aspect of their tenure has to be open to careful scrutiny. Of course it is IF they are Republican.
It's pretty obvious that conservatives are going to have to carve some time out of their busy schedules to pay attention to Congress.
He should be in jail.
Traficant is being released now there is a room vacant for Rangle.

You wanted "hope and change" and the Dems sure delivered:
Less change in your pocket and little hope for the future!
