Romney said keeping hand in GOP '12 race (Desperate Mitt Alert)
UPI ^ | 30 AUGUST 2009 | UPI

BOSTON, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Republican former U.S. presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is quietly raising millions of dollars as he prepares for the 2012 campaign, analysts say.

Observers say that since he lost the GOP presidential primaries last year, the former Massachusetts governor has shown his usual competitiveness and discipline in keeping his presidential aspirations in play, The Boston Globe reported Sunday.

"He lost a tough race," New Hampshire state Sen. Jeb Bradley, a Republican former member of the U.S. House, told the newspaper. "After that, Mitt could have done anything he wanted with his life: back to the non-profit world or start a new business. But what has he been doing? He's kept at it. He's been busting his butt since losing more than anyone I have ever seen."

YOu will find that all candidates for public office get contributions from people, and those people often work for companies, and you can make lists of all the money given from people who work for a company.

And then, if you want to make a senseless argument, you can claim that donations to a candidate are bribes.

I work for a company, and I gave money to Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter. Only an idiot would argue that my company was bribing those two, or that those two were receiving bribes, simply because they are listed as having employees who gave money to the candidate.

Oh, let me restate that — only an idiot, or you.

As I said, you can keep quoting from links, but when those links are information from people who have no idea what they are talking about, or are making obviously stupid arguments, it doesn’t help your position.

And I am completely certain that you were, in fact, alive when the court legalized gay marriage in Massachussetts.

Maybe you would like to provide a link to a post of yours, that you made in the threads on that day, where you told us all to chill out, because the court hadn’t done anything and so there was nothing to worry about.

Except you can’t, because you didn’t say so, and neither did ANYBODY else, because everybody knew what the court had done.

Because you and Romney have no legal foundation for his imposing gay marriage,
you change the subject and ignore the Mass. Constitution.

No surprise there.

The imposition of gay marriage without a vote is due to: ..... Willard (Carpetbagger) "I am Myth" Romney.

You have no idea what you speaking about.

No wonder you change the subject he poster posts,
and then rely on your endless ad hominem.

Take some time off from polishing Romney's you-know-what,
and read the law.

What has this to do with the subject at hand ? You questioned why I boldfaced my comments, mistakenly claiming they were an emotional outburst, and I corrected you. What this who quoted what or whom is wasteful silliness. It was already explained and clarified in a prior posting, so go ahead and reread it for your own benefit.

Wow, usually people at least wait until another thread before re-writing history.

I NEVER said you were emotional. I never "questioned" why you bold-faced your comments. I said "You know, just making your words bold doesn’t embue them with any more truth."

That's ALL I said about your use of bold.

You responded by saying "You know full well if I’m quoting from someone else in my post, I use boldface to distinguish my remarks from theirs regardless of subject matter."

Now, it turns out you don't seem to quote other people much, and I had never noticed, much less known "full well", that your style of posting was to make your own words bold if other words were quotes. As I was simply making a snarky comment about your bolding your words; and the style of bolding your own words is rare; most people italicize or bold what they are quoting, not their own words.

After that, we simply misunderstood each other; my response was to ask what in bold you were quoting, since I took your statement to mean that you boldfaced quotes to distinguish them from your writings, rather than the (now-understood) meaning that you make your OWN comments bold.

I presumed that would be clear, especially since I specifically said there were no quotes; my words had quotes around them so it was clear they were my quotes.

But I presume now that in your response, you missed what I said about quotes, because you claimed I couldn't see that you had quoted me, when i was discussing the bolded words.

Having figured out what you meant, I've just been teasing you a little more about it, which I presume was OK with you since you were also making teasing comments about it.

I do now understand that you put your words in bold when you are also quoting other comments; I still might make snarky comments about how putting words in bold tends to give them a weight they do not deserve, since bold is generally used to emphasize the important things, and while you certainly would find your own words of paramount importance, i might find it useful to disagree.

I apologize for not, at the start, having intimate knowledge of the unique posting style of every freeper. :-)

The ONLY one rewriting history (or attempting to do so)
is you, CharlesWayneCT.

Conservatives backing a known fraud, Socialist and liar.

I still don't get why, if you are saying that, you also find reason to argue that what you are describing is evil. I would say that if a person is a known fraud, socialist, and liar, that that person is evil, and should not get the support of any person.

That Romney got, and still gets, the support of known good people whose opinion is widely trusted and whose conservative credentials are unquestioned, strongly suggests that your opinion of him as a fraud, socialist, and liar is an opinion not shared by these people, which also suggests that you are incorrect in stating your opionion as an irrefutable fact accepted by all except ignorant stupid people.

As Romney did not win the election, your statement that you were "right" is relatively meaningless. If Romney had been elected, we would see how he governed, and we would know if he kept to his conservative campaign promises, or reverted to positions of his past; that would have shown whether you and others were right or wrong.

Since that didn't happen, we will never know whether you were right or not.

The backstabbing of Gov. Palin and her minor children
by Team Romney DURING ELECTION 2008 to throw the election
is evil.

Every conservative agrees.

You do not, proving you are not conservative but a
dedicated RomneyBOT.

I cannot believe you took the time to author that. So I take it you’re a lawyer ? You certainly don’t like answering direct questions, Charles. Why is that ?

Charles, you don’t seem to “get” a lot of things, and you seem more obsessed with fonts than you are with facts. I didn’t need the Presidential election to tell whether he would be a disaster as President. He had 4 years in Massachusetts to prove to the world he already was, past tense, a disaster as Governor.

You know how Charles is.

If you dont have the facts, argue the law.

If you dont have the law, argue the FONTS and throw
ad hominems.

He certainly talks like a lawyer. I’ve asked him twice and he won’t answer. Did he work for his campaign off the internet ? He sure acts like he’s still working for it online. Spinning like a gerbil on an exercise wheel.

I can believe you took time to respond again, although I have no idea why.

Ask me a direct question, and I’ll try my best to answer it.

You might as well give up. You can’t say anything positive about Romney on this website, he is disliked by so many freepers.

Personally, I’ll support just about anybody who can unseat Obama. I’ve voted for people I’ve disliked before. Recently, in fact. Thanks to the Republican party I’ll probably have to do it again.

There’s nothing positive to be said about him, unless you approve of liars, con-artists and liberal Democrats posing as Republicans. There are deniers and then there are Slick Willard deniers.

I missed where you asked that question, although I’m used to people asserting that they know the answer, even though I’ve stated it repeatedly, so maybe I simply didn’t notice.

I did not work for the Romney campaign, in either a paid or unpaid capacity, either on the internet or off the internet.

In September of 2008, I collected a page of signatures to put Romney’s name on the ballot in Virginia. I also collected a page of signatures to put Fred Thompson’s name on the ballot, and I signed a couple of other signature pages being circulated in our local republican meeting.

That is the extent of my “work” for any campaign during that time period. By the time we would have really “worked” in Virginia, the race was already over.

I never even had a bumper sticker or yard sign for Romney.

I also never attended a rally, meeting, or any other activity for Romney, although I was invited to one “party” after he got his name on the ballot in Virginia, since I had collected signatures for him. I did not attend.

So far as I can tell, no writing of mine regarding Romney ever appeared anywhere other than on FreeRepublic. I didn’t discuss Romney on my personal blog, or on other blogs in posts or comments. I never wrote about Romney in my newspaper column either.

I donated an extremely small sum of money to Romney’s campaign, in order to build up his list of “unique donors”. I also donated to the Thompson and Hunter campaigns.

I hope this answers any and all questions you may have, or may have asked and I missed, regarding my relationship with the Romney campaign.

No. Do you have any other questions? Now is the time, I am paying attention and will answer any question you can formulate for me.
