Cheney is the only Statesman left, that I can see. I would vote for him, if Sarah Palin is the VP candidate. At least he is a true conservative, and not like wishy-washy McCain (and I did vote for McCain due to Palin...as a vote against Zero)

That is just what I was thinking. A Cheney/Palin ticket. Would the progressives ever squeal.

Is he really? Cheney put himself out of the running for the Presidency and concentrated on what was important to him -- defense and foreign policy -- and he came across as a hard-liner on those issues.

He didn't have much to say about other issues. If Cheney had wanted the presidency and felt up to campaigning, who's to say his views on those issues would have been that different from Bush's or McCain's?
