No, it didn’t have to be asked while GWB was President, because the media kept telling us that Americans and the World were not proud of GWB.
Now however since Obama is the first black man in office, the question has to be asked. So if you say yes you are not racist. If you say no, “By God, you must be a racist, because everyone who is not racist is so proud we finally got a black man in office. You racist!”

Agreed and agreed. So, the poll question was an implicit push-poll. Trying to make you “FEEL”. Instead of think.
Some of us can walk and chew gum at the same time though...which maybe the pollsters and our elected officials hadn’t factored into the equation.
