I never understood the supposed “surprise” when a woman is able to make money as a prostitute, stripper, or porn star.
Once they decide to sell themselves, I would think there would be pretty much full employment, so long as they were not so ugly or disfigured as to be grotesque.

Sounds to me like the good capt. saw someone he could make a buck with, took some pics, released them, made sure she got fired, then offered to “help” her, taking his normal cut, of course..
