No big deal. Under the upcoming provisions of “One Air Force, One Airplane,” this bird was set to be retired and replaced by a single “superplane” that performs all tactical and strategic requirements of the Air Force and will be centrally controlled from one point in the continental United States.
Are you talking about the E-10 (I think they are still calling it that) project to combine JSTARS and AWACS or were you being sacastic?
The E-10 program seems to have gone from the initial stages of proto-type development to pipe dream. I hear the current E-3s and E-8s are to be operational long into the future.
If the program is back on line I would be interested in it.
Regardless, this is a pretty big deal for my buddies still flying it.
