Not to appear insensitive but this seems to be a story line we see each and every year at about this time. Has there been any talk as to how these sorts of fires can be prevented or at least their scope diminished?

Get back to me on another day
We're a little too busy fighting fires, today.
In the meantime, try praying for the Firefighters and those whose homes are in danger.

It’s a desert, there’s not a lot to do. Metal roofs, brush control, even then...

When the inevitable fire comes, instead of just burning some countryside and killing a few rabbits you've got houses burning. Firefighters are then tasked with saving property rather than building fire breaks and letting the fire consume itself. Compound that with the enviros that won't allow brush clearing or other common sense fire abatement measures and that's why this scenario plays out year after year across the West.

Our problems out here are compounded by the environmentalists ...on the East Coast ....that have no understanding of the unique problems that come with the western arid wilderness.....
