"A pyrocumulus cloud rises from the Station fire burning north of Los Angeles." More Photos

I'd never before heard of a "pyrocumulus" cloud.
I'd suggest a better screen name for you would be Cold Toe. It is unnecessary to beat up on people up when they are going through this. Perhaps you need to grow the hell up and act like an adult. She is dealing with her situation and is not expected to be in a great mood right now by the practical folks. In comparison your situation on a forum does not really compare and it's a shame you can't have some composure and compassion.
Heh I don’t know how long Michael Jackson’s tigers have been there but it might have been Thriller or Sabu.
“It is unnecessary to beat up on people up when they are going through this. “
But it is OK for them to lash out at others? Get real.
Sounds like a bit of a dispute brewing over these Gold Coast shelter-in-place people. They did indeed refuse to evacuate, but they are reportedly saying none of them has even once asked to be rescued — by helicopter or otherwise.
what I heard on the radio was a USFS fire person saying they couldnt be reached, and not to try to because they were forwarned....not sure if there was a phone call before it or not.... knowing Steve Whitmore, the whole “9-1-1” call could be bogus...those are recorded....
the way these ICP’s work, is that you have all these agencies together in their trailers and rigs, and stuff gets repeated several times on several different frequencies and probably enhanced or changed along the way....
kind of like that pass-it-on game, where The sky is blue becomes Purple monkey taco by the 20th person.
but it’s pretty sad if that’s the case, and it ended up with FD spokespeople going to the media saying that the people are on the phone begging for evacuations (and having it be a lie).
the guy sounds quite lucid and sane on KFI right now..is this him?
pyrocumulus is a made up fire term....not an official NWS term.
Also called icing over..caused be extreme heat, and the moisture turns to ice crystals at night altitudes....you cant see the mtns but I would say those clouds are pushing 18000+ feet
we played that once in grade school.....it went from “the lazy brown dog watched a cow” to “the lady fell on her butt” in 20 class seats.
nah it was just a sympathetic guy. But they said they’d be talking about the Gold Coast people after the break.
I remember the Oakland Hills Fire of October 1991. There were people who refused to evacuate, despite repeated requests.
Kind of like “Mt Wilson has been destroyed cuz my Dish Network stopped working” Twitter therefore all of Southern California equals New Orleans post Katrina....lets all panic
I think it was a lioness or a big cougar
yah...and if you have an official-enough sounding name, people all over the world will hang on your every misinformed word.
I should create an account. @officialstationfireinfo
Yes, they’re allowed to be out of sorts.
You are not. Get real yourself.
Thanks Ernest.
BK - do you or does anyone else know how things are in Tujunga itself? I have good friends who live on Tujunga Cyn Blvd, can’t get ahold of them right now.
Am nervous.
PS - am not familiar with streets or terrain around there, so I don’t know what’s right near them.
honestly I’m looking at live coverage of a firestorm on KCAL channel 9. Absolutely hell on earth. The masthead says Tujunga but I don’t know where that is or anything about it. Clearly this that I’m watching is wilderness..has to be tall trees or something. If you can’t get ahold of them I’d go with the notion that they’ve evacuated, plus I can’t imagine phone service is working very well through there right now. I’m sorry. I will say a prayer that they are fine and that somehow their home is safe as well.
