We have are going to our timeshare in Cabo 7 weeks from today. Depending on where this thing goes, we might be changing our plans.

Not at all. This is typical of Carl Rovian storms. They are made square so that when they travel over land, it is then easier to alert the affected counties and mobilize the natural guard, fema, and other relief agencies.

This was the same storm that they said yesterday/Saturday had a <20% chance of becoming a tropical storm, and its already a hurricane.

We can hope the rains associated with this will put out the fires in So Cal but I wonder if the winds that precede the rains might make the fires worse.
Lets hope so. (even though we are in bad shape here in Texas) Rai in the western US is always beneficial.
