Got to sleep after 4, woke up now and couldn’t get on the camera page. Reasoned I’d find something in Freepland, and, by golly, I did. I’m going to check the copter feeds now and see what the situation is. Thanks!!

They can do it... the licensee only need add the cleared area in their permit. Of course they have to pay additional monies for additional disturbed land.

I’ve seen federal, state and local LEO agencies put up repeaters and radio sites in Nevada and they were smart enough to permit defensible space around their installations.

Hokay, well... Got the KTTV copter just in time to see it land, so... From the looks of some early morning footage on 2, there doesn't seem to be much motion. The big issue's the proximity to Red Box, down at the bottom of the one exit road up the mountain. Don't want to get people trapped up there. The shots toward the west seem to show the flame front still across the canyon, pretty much where it was yesterday. Humidity stayed fairly high most of the night, but is dropping now, and the wind's just sort of changing direction randomly. So, pretty inconclusive, but nothing imminent at the moment.

“They can do it... the licensee only need add the cleared area in their permit.”

Not with the environmental laws in California you don’t!

From the Inciweb official report on the fire:

“Steep terrain, decadent old growth brush and hot dry weather are factors that drive fire activity.”

Here I thought it was a fuel issue, when it was actually a moral problem...
