President Obama's supporters hope to recapture the energy of last year's triumphant election campaign in a bid to regain control of the health-care debate, planning more than 2,000 house parties, rallies and town hall meetings across the country over the next two weeks.
The initiative began Wednesday with a rally at a labor hall in Phoenix that featured the Obama sunrise logo and placards that became fixtures of the 2008 presidential campaign.
Organizing for America, a nationwide group of Obama supporters run by the Democratic National Committee, also brought along a colorful bus featuring the slogan, "Health Insurance Reform Now: Let's Get it Done." The vehicle is on an 11-city tour advocating for health-care reform.
"We think that change happens with neighbors talking to neighbors, and these rallies reflect that," said DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan. "That's how we won the campaign in the fall, with grass-roots organizing, and that's what we will see in these events going forward."
But the effort also underscores the unexpected difficulties faced by Obama and his allies in trying to push a health reform plan through Congress in the face of concerted Republican opposition and growing voter unease. Conservative activists have dominated the public debate in recent weeks with dire warnings and noisy disruptions at town hall meetings, while national polls show declining support for Obama's ambitious plan to widen health insurance coverage.

The best response to the OBAMA 1000 MEETINGS, in which NO QUESTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED, is to IGNORE THE MEETINGS, PERIOD.
If we try to protest it will be portrayed and promoted as “astroturf”, so let them be astroturf, and RELEASE A STATEMENT THAT CONSERVATIVES/INDEPENDENTS/LIBERTARIANS WILL NOT ATTEND MEETING WITHOUT QUESTIONS/COMMENTS!
That way there is nothing of importance there, and let FOXNEWS know it will be a democrat affair and nothing more.
Our side needs to start a grassroots organization called, Organizing for THE UNITED STATES of America.

We need to put our money into 9/12 march on Wash, DC, with VOTE NO HEALTHCARE included with tea party. It will be shown on FoxNews....and ALERT FOXNEWS THAT ALL EFFORST WILL BE BASED IN 9/12 PROJECT FOR SEPT 09, since DONKEYS won’t allow anyone to speak at the propaganda mtgs...it will keep any violance from breaking out at their mtgs....and diminsh value of their propaganda mtgs..in fact we need to refer to those meetings as HEALTHCARE PROPAGANDA MTGS.

The title of HR3200 is, "To provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes." Don't say nuthin about health insurance. I suspect at least 90% of the bill is about health care, not insurance.

Since it is a SALES MEETING, the grassroots AGAINST HEALTHCARE will only attend the 9/12 project in Wash, DC or local ANTI HEALTHCARE RALLIES in Sept 09. AND ASK FOXNEWS TO ANNOUNCE IT THAT WAY...that diminishes value of 1000 SALES of Healthcare events to ASTROTURF BY DEMRATS, and places focus of protest on 9/12 in DC...

How many times do you have to say ‘NO’, as the spontaneous gatherings at townhalls are over....those who gave their representatives a mandate to vote NO to Healthcare have already spoken, and will not be going to propaganda meetings. Obama is counting on the organized groups to get more Pro Healthcare protestors than naysayers to give him a mandate for Congress to pass it. If only OBAMAMITES are there and we say NO, WE HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN AT TOWNHALLS..then his numbers don’t matter, imho.
