Report: ObamaCare Is Bad Medicine for PA
National health care would harm state’s economy and add $4,400 in costs for every man, woman, and child in Pennsylvania—without significantly reducing the number of uninsured!
HARRISBURG, PA — The Commonwealth Foundation released a report today showing that President Obama’s proposed takeover of health care by the federal government would have dramatically negative effects on Pennsylvanians.
The report, written by a research team headed by noted economist and former presidential advisor Dr. Arthur Laffer, entitled, The Prognosis for National Health Insurance: A Pennsylvania Perspective, finds that President Obama’s health care proposal would have the following effects:
It would add $4,453 in additional health care costs for every man, woman, and child in Pennsylvania. Despite the additional $1 trillion in expected health care subsidies, 30 million people nationally would remain uninsured. The cost to reduce the number of uninsured by 16 million is $62,500 per person insured. Pennsylvania’s economic growth in 2019 compared to the baseline scenario would be reduced by 5.1 percent.

We can't trust the goons currently in charge of our government to come up with any reasonable plan, so hopefully it will all get scratched until the grownups are once again in charge. But when the time comes to legislate, in a reasonable manner, about the US healthcare system, Dr. Laffer's recommendations seem prudent and sound - simple to understand, common sense ideas, which are sadly lacking in the current debate.
Seems it would be cheaper to just pay for insurance on the uninsured? Of course, those who are paying now would soon stop paying, demanding the same treatment. This is what happened in Tennessee with the children's healthcare plan a few years back. Now it is bankrupt.

Of course. Over at another thread, freepers are discussing health insurance and making sensible choices. Like that matters. 0bama and his accomplices are going to get some kind of "health care reform" racket going, get the govt into the game, no matter how, no matter the quality. Because it has NOTHING to do with health care; it's to control the people -- to seize a big chunk of liberty and a big chunk of loot.
Once they've got a system, it'll start constricting its "customers" like a snake, and we'll never hear another peep about anyone's "right" to health care.
