I don’t think the dems will try to take the retirement accounts. For a couple of reasons. Too many people would drop out of the tax system altogether, and they know it. Second, that starts a shooting war. As stupid as they are, I have to believe they know that, and know that they cannot win that one.

What better avenue than thru' the so-called health care program that allows for the gov't to have total access to all your finances? You need expensive medical care? We'll take it out of your retirement... One operation could wipe that out.

Gotta the money somewhere, and that's a likely place. First though, they'll means test Social Security, then they'll tax the money you take out of all of the various sorts of retirement accounts, and at rates at least as high as you would have paid on the money had you been taxed on it when you put it into the account.
