Why the 'O'-ministration will implode in weeks
Townhall.com ^ | 8-29-2009 | Kevin McCullough

Never has an administration who had more firepower at their disposal, been set to so totally fail in the next six to eight weeks. It is nearly a foregone conclusion. It is nearly unavoidable. And it defies all logic given the sizable majority the administration has in both houses of Congress.

Since I was the first pundit to predict Obama's presidency (Dec 2006) it behooves me to tell you the course I believe the next few weeks will take and effectively halt the radical transformation that the left appeared unstoppable with only months ago.

1. Health Care's long and painful death.

Barring the existing possibility that the Democrats cram a reform bill down the throats of actively protesting Americans through an ultra-partisan process that would shut out conservatives and Republicans from even being allowed to contribute to the discussion, health care reform is dead. It actually died a good while back when the President decided to pivot and create a new issue that no one had been discussing--health insurance reform. The American people will want to know why we should spend $4 billion to cover everyone in America "efficiently," when we already do so with inefficiencies like people using the emergency room as their general practitioner for $2.5 billion. Deep thinkers on the issue want to know why the President hasn't entertained one item of tort reform--protecting his friends, the trial lawyers--yet is willing to claim that doctors are eager to lop off feet, tonsils, and foreskin just to make a buck.

2. Cap & Trade will be the largest tax increase in American history.

With the 2010 election cycle just around the corner, campaign ads are not far off from being drafted. With Cap & Trade still sitting in legislative limbo, with the President's own advisor--Warren Buffet--now opposing it openly on media, with the 9.12 project in the works in which the largest gathering of anti-tax Americans from the left, right, and middle will be coming to Washington DC on September 12, and with blue dogs getting absolutely hammered in their home districts supporting it, the chance of single-party ram through victory on the matter is not wise. Cap & Trade, if passed, will contribute to unemployment, Wall Street stop and starts, and ultimately reduced treasury revenues. It would serve as the single largest tax increase on the average American in all of American history. Even President Obama admitted as much, predicting that electric bill prices, in his words, would, "skyrocket." Those that have looked at the specifics tell us that the average utility bill in America will go from $167 to $307 per month, per family.

3. Unemployment to remain high.

Now several Washington organizations from left and right, and one of note consisting of both--the Congressional Budget Office, predicts that unemployment will not shrink from the predicted "Obama high" of 8%. Instead, nearly without fail, economists are predicting unemployment at or over 10% for up to the next 24 months. That is nearly 250% the increase in unemployment under Bush for nearly the duration of his two-term presidency. If people were working, higher taxes and possible new health care entitlements could be considered, but without them working it is political suicide for Democrats to even think of it.

4. Obama's integrity tarnished in August.

Not a great deal has been made of the whoppers that the President has been spewing while the Federal Government has been in recess, but it is worth noting that many more people than I had previously realized have notice the President "exaggerating" badly in his talks on health care. For instance confusing he actual $500 physicians get to amputate a foot as opposed to the $50,000 that he claimed they got. He has shown an utter disregard for the reputation of those he talks about, the "facts" he uses to make his argument, and is highly overly optimistic about the results of his policies. Long story short, at the beginning of the summer Americans mostly trusted him, his passion index was at +10, he heads into the fall at -14.

5. A $3 trillion dollar budget.

New spending for this and that sure added up. And that brings me to number 6.

6. A coming middle class tax hike.

They will hem and haw. There will be an official, and ever arrogant Robert Gibbs explanation from the White House Press room as to why they must to do this to be "good stewards" and to be a "responsible administration" that, "pays as it goes." But the truth is, in order to pay for everything they've promised and budgeted for, a tax is looming for small businesses and working families that President Obama promised would never come. And as an aside, he was going to break that promise all along. Because the minute the "Bush tax relief" runs out in 2010, middle class taxes would be going up in an "Obama administration." Hence fundamentally Obama's "not a single dime" pledge on the campaign trail was bollocks start to finish.

Of course the President, the Democrats, the left, and Congressional leadership could surprise me. They could show up in September and endorse the Coburn health care bill in the U.S. Senate and swipe the credit for it. They could show up next week and fight with all their might to not allow the tax rates to skyrocket in 2010. They could decide to scrap Cap & Trade and re-think the use of public money for true job-based economic stimulation.

But I'm not holding my breath, and I'd advise you against it as well.

They've awakened the American worker, the American small-business owner, and the American voter.

All three of which are now wondering aloud, "What on earth have we done?"

I recognize the phenomenon, but am slightly more optimistic. Grab a couple of hundred random Americans, and there's a potential Todd Beamer in there somewhere.

I am too.

Almost all communist takeovers throughout history have involved a docile, disarmed populace that had never tasted freedom or prosperity before. The months since Obama ascended to power can be described in two words: overreach, and backlash.

I agree with the premise of the article above, we are weeks away from major upheaval, nine-twelve will be a cathartic moment for this administration, and they will either get the message and back down, or suffer dire consequences.

The czars will replace the congress and SEIU, ACORN and AmeriCorps will become Obama's army - the coup is realized.

No one has explained to me how these czars have any power or where it comes from? I really don't get it. I'd think the framers had enough sense to avoid appointed offices who could wield power over the people so how can these czars do anything legally?

Obama was elected by the media. Not only was the MSM in the tank for Obama from the very beginning, but they helped McCain look like a babbling idiot ...not that at times he needed the help. The only reason why McCain got nearly half the votes was Sarah Palin ..who really reached many of those now going to tea parties and protesting at town hall meetings. The media also helped sell Bush hate for the previous 8 years. Ironically now that the economy is really going to heck they are silent.

Fortunately people are waking up and are getting the truth from outside the MSM. They are now seeing what the MSM did not report during the campaign and us continuing to hide and they do not like what they see. An inevitable tax hike will doom Obama and the Democrats.

That’s certainly true too, but I meant something even worse: governmental interference in our freedoms, which would prevent us from getting rid of Obama “care” or any other bill or act even if we want to.

That could easily be done by packing the Supreme Court with Obama cronies. Any attempt to overturn OCare would be "unconstitutional".

.....and know that they cannot win that one.

It will be for the good of the people; let government protect your retirement. The RATs are only a couple votes from passing Cap and Trade and nationalized medicine so I have little faith in the logic of the people.

The government figures that the money is partially theirs now since it was tax deferred.

Technicalities like legality are mere gnats to Democrats - easily ignored.

Did you see a little comedy skit McCain performed on some TV program a few weeks before the election? I *think* it was on 60 Minutes or some other news show, and it was a film made at some capitol hill function with members of both parties in attendance. Anyhow, in it he was joking around about BHO, something about "He can run later! This is MY turn!" and the audience laughed.

(Does ANYONE else remember this, or did I hallucinate it? It was some time in October 2008, I swear.)

There is a school of thought on FR re:Triangulation. Both democrats and republicans want the exact same thing (decreased US sovereignty in favor of NGOs they and their whelps can run, a powerful government with more control over people's lives, etc) and while some pretend to be against these goals, it's just a lie to get votes. Once in office, both democrats and republicans vote in favor of more centralization, more federal power, more intrusive government, less defense of US sovereignty, etc.The republicans move more slowly towards the true goals of both parties-but democratic and republican administrations both move towards those goals.

I looked at McCain on screen, thought about all I'd read here on FR that used BHO's OWN WORDS (book and leaked speeches) which proved he is an anti white, antiChristian socialist who intended to create a civilian force to do God knows what to US citizens, and I thought, "It's all a g-d-n joke to that POS. He knows we're are in danger of being enslaved, and he doesn't give a s-t because he's rich and thinks he and his ugly stubby legged pudgy daughter will be just fine. He could care less about the USA or the people."

I knew when I saw that stupid skit on TV that all our worst surmises about triangulation are true. Before, I was just 90% sure it was true-now I know: By and large, pretty much ALL the people in government (elected and appointed) are the enemy of the citizens of the USA. God help us .

Q. More importantly, what will they do to retain their grip on power?

A. The 2010 census.
With WH (ACORN) control of the census and the massive re-districting and gerrymandering that will follow, many new, safe Rat seats will be established in the House for the 2012 election and beyond.

Here’s how 0bama is going to get out of the mess he’s created: According to a recent issue Aviation Week and Space Technology (I wish I could cite to an exact issue—can someone help?) the DoD has recently ordered 10 to 12 30,000 lb. “bunker buster” bombs from Boeing with 4 to be delivered asap. This tells me he is going to “bomb the asprin factory” either in N. Korea or Iran to deflect attention from the healthcare mess and attempt to improve his popularity. My person opinion with respect to this is he could end up starting world war III. Yet another parallel to the 30’s and 40’s of the last century....

I'll never believe Obama is the brain behind the organization, so I have to ask: is he being deliberately set up by Soros-types as a fall-guy?

If the goal is to destroy the U.S. as a military and economic power, what better way than to set up an individual whose inevitable fall will result in a permanently divided, violence-torn population? If the administration falls, the Dims will forever blame the "Right" for the collapse (no matter how terrible the admin's failures might be). I don't know if that will turn into fights in the street, but I can't see it leading to a functional government and society. We'll chase our own tails into insignificance.

But as Rush has always said, he doesn’t want a society without liberals because everyone needs to be reminded of what they are and what a better way than to see them.

Back in 94 after the GOP took over congress and the USSR was dissolved Rush said "That communism was dead except for some die hard college professors on campi and we should keep them around for laughs etc "

Wonder if he still stands by that statement cause it sure doesn't seem dead to me

A good portion of the American people are completely taken over by marketing.

Do you believe marketing (David "Goebbels" Axelrod) or your own lying eyes? You can't hide double digit unemployment or no SS increases for the next two years (something Obama has nothing to do with but will be blamed for) or increased taxes when the Bush tax cuts are sunsetted.

And all it would take would be another major terrorist attack on US soil to destroy all trust and faith in our current CIC. Obama has already issued an ultimatum to Iran that by September they must come to the negotiating table or be hit by tough sanctions. What happens if he can't stop the Iranian nuclear program and Israel decides to launch a preemptive strike?

The Community Organizer in Chief has always tried to avoid making decisions for fear of offending one party or another. He wants to be loved. Unfortunately for Obama, the buck stops in the WH. This country is going to face some very tough decisions in the next few years with huge debt and the entitlement programs going bust in a decade. The status quo is not an option.

Yep and that is how the Reps took over control of the House after 40 years straight of Dem control.

all that needs to be done is the electricity shut off for a few days and Marshall law declared and check points set up on all major roads.

That happens the inner cities will explode in rioting

In addition there ain't enough troops at home to enforce it

Democrats target your 401(k)-- Your pre-tax annual contribution to a 401(k) will be taxed under a plan considered by House Education and Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-Calif., and Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Income Security and Family Support.

Worse yet, instead of the familiar, tax-deferred plan which typically invests in diversified mutual funds, in turn investing in private companies, these Democrat leaders want to create a new system of mandatory worker-retirement accounts which would invest only in government debt (bonds) and yield 3 percent per year.

In other words, Miller and McDermott want to redirect trillions of dollars of workers' savings from private investments to fund the ballooning government deficit.
