Last week, the Drug War Chronicle reports, the Drug Enforcement Administration made its first arrests related to medical marijuana since Attorney General Eric Holder promised not to prosecute people who are complying with state law.

“Obama promised”
Is there any more empty, meaningless phrase in the political lexicon today?
No. Campaign promises/rhetoric is worthless.
TERM LIMITS for Congress critters!
Two (2) terms and you're out. Go back home and get a real job as the Founding Fathers believed should be the case.
I just told them (as HAWK) that if they are unhappy with Obama doing something he never promised to stop (i.e. busting operations that were selling to non-MM users) then don’t vote for Obama anymore.
Obama & the Raids
Direct Quote from Obama:
“I would not have the Justice Department prosecuting and raiding medical marijuana [patients?] its not a good use of our resources.” - In response to question from Granite Staters for Medical Marijuana Aug. 21, 2007

[Directly from SF Chron]...In response to recent questions from The Chronicle about medical marijuana, Obama’s campaign - the only one of the three contenders to reply - endorsed a hands-off federal policy.
“Voters and legislators in the states - from California to Nevada to Maine - have decided to provide their residents suffering from chronic diseases and serious illnesses like AIDS and cancer with medical marijuana to relieve their pain and suffering,” said campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt.
“Obama supports the rights of states and local governments to make this choice - though he believes medical marijuana should be subject to (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) regulation like other drugs,” LaBolt said.
He said the FDA should consider how marijuana is regulated under federal law, while leaving states free to chart their own course.
Obama would end DEA raids
LaBolt also said Obama would end U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration raids on medical marijuana suppliers in states with their own laws.[END QUOTE FROM SF CHRON].
He appears to be a lying politician...(a redundent statement)
He never promised to quit raiding sources of non-MM sales. If the MM people don’t keep close control over their business, they are going to be in jeopardy, same as a pharmacy that was found to be selling Oxycontin without Rx on the side. Bummer is two faced on many things, but not this.
Term limits kind of goes against freedom of speech. Besides, there are several good republicans who have been in office for several terms. The problem is the complacent idiots who vote for the “lesser of two evils”.
Obama’s own voting record stood against his campaign promises. Yet so many zombies such as Oprah kept saying, “Usually I stay out of politics, but this time so much is at stake I have to voice my opinion publicly and endorse Obama.” So many times that “but this time so much is at stake line” that I wished, once, just once they’d give solid examples what was at stake or how that whatever was at stake.
Their “primary caregiver” ploy fell apart when the DEA found that the drug dealers had sold over 100 kilograms of marijuana.
Either that, or bring back tar and feathering......
Thanks for the quotes and links.
Great. More jobs for Mexicans.
