I actually take exception to your favorite quote from the article, especially as it comes from a Brit.

Mark Steyn is a Canadian citizen, not a Brit. He was simply educated at Oxford, hence the accent. Moreover, he chooses to live in New Hampshire because he loves and prefers America, its culture and its Founders' ideals much more than those of either Canada or the UK. He is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and carries himself.
