For 30 years, Eli M. Rosenbaum has been hunting Nazi war criminals. Even as the last of them die off, he is not giving up.
There is still time to bring some of these people to justice, and we ought not fail to do that, said Mr. Rosenbaum, director of the Office of Special Investigations, who arrived at that Justice Department agency as a summer intern in 1979, the year it was created, and became its chief in 1995.
...Its a few years more, Mr. Rosenbaum said of the hunt for the last Nazis. I dont think that you will hear the department soon say: Thats it. These cases are finished.

The Muslims are the Nazis of the twenty-first century.
I think it is time for these Nazi Hunters to give it up. All of them are dead or in their 90s.
And the Communists are still the Communists , I guess.
I often wonder what happened to him but I also wonder how it was that someone who was an SS Man was able to emigrate into this country.
The Waffen SS recruited (and conscripted) a lot of foreigners. Was he German?
"Generally the Waffen-SS was not directly involved in the Holocaust, as the separately organised Allgemeine SS was responsible for the death camps, ..." - Wikipedia
Rxcellent points and I agree completely.
Except for your numbers. Total killed by commies isn’t much over 100M. It’s not “hundreds of millions.”
Of course it’s still something like 8 to 10 times the roughly 12M killed by the Nazis.
The old Nazi’s may be dying off, but we’re growing a whole new crop right here in America.
The new ones are in the white house. Time to fire it up again.
The problem with your suggestion is that you can't add numbers up to equate the magnitude of warfare.
For example, if you add up the numbers of US soldiers of WW1+WW2+Korea+Vietnam it is less than the total number of lives (military and civilian) lost during the US Civil War.
Do you see the problem?
They should be looking for the new ones in Pakistan and many other Islamic countries.
I wasn’t the one who brought up the numerical comparison between the number killed by commies vs. nazis.
While it is true one cannot create a purely numerical scale of evil, it is still relevant that reds killed roughly 10x as many innocent people as browns.
To be perfectly fair, the nazis were working on a very short time schedule. Almost all of the killing took place after war had started and the vast majority during and after 42. So they had to kill a whole bunch of people in just a few years.
The commies had the luxury of decades to comnplete their murderous work.
If the nazis had won the war and been able to fully implement their racial ideology, it is difficult to argue that their toll wouldn’t have indeed been in the “hundreds of millions.”

No, not every villian. No, not foreigners killing foreigners.
But my uncle spent a year and a half in a German POW camp after being shot out of the sky. If it was worth his sacrifice and the even greater sacrifice of many Americans, then it is worth prosecuting every identifiable criminal who brought about that War.
It is also worth giving at least some thought to stopping such dictatorships from gaining the power to repeat the past.
If this particular office is shut down ten years from now, it won't bother me a bit. But it will bother me if the US becomes so isolationist that mass murder is permitted to be practiced without objection.
There's a very practical explanation for that.
My father was a soldier in 1943. While viewing a war-poster showing a smiling Russian soldier with has arm wrapped around a U.S. soldier, my father said, "I bet he has a knife in that hand".
My father was called before his commanding officer and reprimanded for making a disparaging comment about our Russian allies.
Stalin attempted to co-exist with Hitler and paid a price when Hitler suddenly attacked. As a result, the Russians lost millions of soldiers on the Eastern Front while the U.S. was still stock-piling jeeps and Spam in preparation for the D-Day landing. The alliance with Russia saved an unknowable number of U.S. lives.
That, I believe, is why communism gets almost a free ride. That and the fact that our main-stream-media is dominated by communists.
European history is one thing and foreigners killing foreigners is one thing.
When do we start going after the communists that murdered 100 million people including thousands of Americans, my father was fighting Japs during his service from 1939 to 1945, when do we start searching for the Japanese war criminals that dissected, tortured and did biological experiments on American GIs, or the ones that at the end of the war were pouring gasoline and lighting up American POWs before they could be freed?
My two brothers and me and my step brother all volunteered for military service to protect us from the bloodiest killers in history, the communists but when do the trials start for the communists that tortured and murdered our fellow servicemen and countless others.
Let the Europeans deal with their stuff until we can get started on ours. Your choice to do nothing, to ignore it all except for some foreigners in Europe is unexplainable.
You make is sound like you are all suited-up and waiting for the troop transport to take you to the front.
I think that some of the other posters who expressed concerns about our present administration or the communism which is Obamacare perhaps have the right target.
The people who you would prosecute have been and are being protected by the media and people like the present administration. If they are successful, the suffering and death experienced in all those foreign lands will become a reality here. I don't think you will make any progress in prosecuting those you have identified until you defeat the ones I have identified.
Are you prepared to take up arms today against the national socialists in our midst?
My postings were intended to be an explanation for why less has been done, not a justification. How do you propose we proceed?
Shift taxpayer money to going after people that have murdered and tortured Americans in WWII and since, let the Europeans deal with their own personal histories.
Yes they are.
But the islamic terrorists have loads of money. Their best friends are in the White House and are dismantling our capability to fight the islamic pigs daily.
When I was a teenager my best friends father used to tell us war stories about his years in the Waffen SS. ... The strange thing was how much he loved this country something we found hard to understand considering it was only a few years previous the US and Germany were enemies. ...
I often wonder what happened to him but I also wonder how it was that someone who was an SS Man was able to emigrate into this country.
The Waffen SS recruited (and conscripted) a lot of foreigners. Was he German?
He was a German from, if memory serves me right, East Prussia. I always found it surprising that even German soldiers who had been wounded multiple times were returned to fight again and again although from what I heard the German losses on the Eastern front were so horrendous there was propably little choice
Russians lost millions of soldiers on the Eastern Front while the U.S. was still stock-piling jeeps and Spam in preparation for the D-Day landing ................................. But while it was going on, we were sending Sherman tanks, Studebaker trucks, locomotives, B 25s, P 39s, P 40’s tons of ammo, communication equipment, uniforms, et.al. to Russia. The Arsenal of Democracy saved us from the depression while we prepared to enter the battle. Without our supplies to the USSR things may have turned out differently. What we did in WW II in regard to putting a cap on any news on the Russian atrocities, was at the time in our interest but not condoned . However we are now 64 years later and those that committed those atrocities are totally forgotten. Why, was it an internal matter? Where is the outrage? Why are they not hunted down right to the last guards at the gulags, the last executioner at Kaytn? Surely there are some 80+ yr old culprits still running around freely who were participants under Stalin’s rule. More double standard thinking I guess.
