I encourage all Freepers to write to Fairfax County Government in the links cited in the article. Here’s my email in response to this event.
Mr. Ellis and Mr. McLain:
I am a resident and tax-paying citizen of Fairfax County.
I just saw a video on Worldnetdaily.com where one of your security officers, Officer Cheeks, threatened to arrest a peaceful protester carrying a sign critical of current health care reform at last week’s congressional town hall meeting in Reston. I am outraged that this officer threatened a fellow citizen with arrest just because he lawfully expressed his first amendment rights.
One would think that a professional school security team that has to routinely deal with “free speech” issues in the cosmopolitan and multicultural Fairfax County would have received training on what constitutes legal, law-abiding behavior. According to my professional legal training, the behavior the protestor exhibited in the video was not “over the line.” Instead, it was representative of what makes America great.
The millions of dollars that the County Board has poured into school security should guarantee that your officers receive adequate training to ensure that the rights of citizens are upheld. I weep that the inadequacy of your unit’s training has transformed the land of General Washington, the Father of Our Country, to an epicenter of tyranny against free speech. Nevertheless, I remain confident that you will remedy the training shortcomings that Officer Cheeks exhibited on the videotape. I also insist that you issue a public apology to the law abiding protester that was misaligned in the videotape.

I saw this posted earlier, but I hope it will be covered by Fox/Rush/Beck/Hannity/Drudge, etc. if it has not already. Will be easier to give it some coverage after the Teddy news is less.
We need to heap shame and ridicule on the evildoers. The like to call us racists? Payback’s a beatsch! Let’s jam their noses in their rancid dog droppings until they gag! And then do it again and again!

Every thread like this also needs to remind people if they go to public events, to be “armed” with cell phones, video cameras, whatever gadget it takes to catch these goons in the act.
I would think this police force could be at risk for a HUGE lawsuit and settlement against it. I'd try to have that cop tending my garden for a decade as part of the settlement, if I was that guy with the sign.
Security officer...hmmmmmmmm. I wonder was he an employee of ACORN or a SEIU member? Actually this is what he was:
“Earlier reports that Officer Wesley Cheeks Jr. is a police officer were in error. Further investigation has revealed Officer Cheeks is a trained member of the Fairfax County Public Schools’ trained School Security Officer team.”
You have to see the youtube video clip of the incident. This is chilling. I hope this is just a rogue cop.

The last time I had checked, the SCOTUS had decided that the first amendment of the Constitution applied to all government bodies, federal, state, county, and local. It seems to me that "officer cheeks" needs to be sent back for more training. I suppose that Fairfax County doesn't teach anything about the Constitution of the United States in its schools, to it's students nor to its "trained security staff."

He may be a “wannabe” cop but I bet he probably is in the same “pay-band” as officers in the “real” Fairfax County Police Department.
Let ask “all”, is he? I dont live there.....
