I thought Andy Martin was a RINOish gadfly.

Even broken clocks are right twice a day.

Yes, Andy Martin is known as a RINO gadfly, and yes, he's nevertheless spot on in his comments in this article. Martin may have zero credibility as a candidate since he's known as a lawsuit crazy hack, but he does know his facts when it comes to corrupt combiner slime. The comments about how Kirk stands for the same things McCain slamed Obama for supporting are excellent and certainly where McCain should be forced to justify his double standards. (of course the liberal media will never ask McCain why Obama was unsuited for office when he did these things but Kirk deserves a promotion for it)

Martin likewise had a political platform only a fool could support in 2006, but he nailed it when it came to exposing why Topinka was unacceptable.

Of course McCain's endorsement of cap n' traitor Kirk really isn't that surprising, he has a bad habit of cozying up to RINOs. More disappointing is politicians who play "Mr. Conservative" on TV but threw their weight behind the RINO, like Sam Brownback and John Thune. One of the people that really disappointed me was Illinois State Senator Matt Murphy, he has a 90% conservative record and is running for Governor now, but he's listed on Mark's promotional materials as endorsing Marky Mark in the primary. I didn't have a chance to talk to him about that today, wish I had.

However, I did manage to confront my Illinois state central committeeman about his "endorsement" of Kirk. At first he said it must have been a mix-up, since they just listed the Illinois Republican Party state central committee as a whole so he got associated with it. Then I said he was mentioned by name on Kirk's "endorsement" page and that's a real slap in the face to Eric Wallace. My SSC claims it was a mistake and he's neutral in the primary. I asked if he'd please issue a written statement clarifying that, and request the Kirk campaign stop using his name in promotional material to sell Kirk. My guy said to email him again and he'll see what he can do. We'll see.

Interesting how none of these staunch "conservative" GOP leaders want to admit to endorsing Kirk when they're confronted with it.

"Mark Kirk has been in Congress for almost a decade, and he has served as a career politician for decades. But like the French prefect of police who “discovers" gambling in Casablanca, Kirk only “discovered’ corruption in Illinois last month, when he announced his campaign for Governor of Illinois. Oh, I’m sorry, he said he was running for Senator, on a platform based on fighting corruption in Illinois state government. Actually, you have fought corruption in Washington. I saw no evidence that Kirk was ever at your side. Kirk has never criticized Barack Obama, or criticized any corruption in Washington. He won’t take on the crooks right under his nose, but he wants us to believe he will be a long-distance corruption fighter in Springfield? Kirk's arguments are an insult to the intelligence of any sentient voter. Kirk is part of a “Combine” in Illinois, a two-party corruption machine that controls the careers of both Democrats and pliant Republicans. Before you endorse Kirk tomorrow, I will offer you a challenge: try and find any newspaper clips or stories in which Kirk attacks Illinois corruption or the Combine before July, 2009. There are none".

Martin makes an excellent point here about phony "reformer" Mark Kirk and one that should be memorized and repeated by every conservative activist when they have a chance to confront Kirk's "thoughtful, independent record" in public.

Good ammo on the surge too, since Kirk's people constantly talk up his "expertise" on military intelligence.

Martin is as liberal as Kirk. Martin is pro-choice and pro-gun control.

Andy Martin is certainly a RINO but I don't think he's anywhere near as liberal as Kirk (few Republicans are). Every time I've heard Martin talk about guns, he says he's pro-2nd amendment and opposes more gun control laws. He's indifferent on gay marriage, he's pro-choice on abortion but opposes partial birth abortion (says it's infanticide). He opposed the Iraq War initially but told me that he agreed we couldn't withdraw until the country was stabilized, and he supported the surge (opposite of Kirk, who supported the war initially but then started cozying up to the cut-and-run crowd and demanding Bush begin to "redeploy" , and opposed the surge).

Make no mistake, I strongly oppose Martin's candidacy for the Senate (he has no credibility since he's a lawsuit crazy nut who has been disbarred and is a conspiracy theorist & a nasty antisemitic personality), but I doubt he's anywhere near as liberal as Kirk on the issues. Few Republicans are.

And everything I've heard Martin say about the sleazy Illinois combine is 100% correct. Like rabscuttle said, a stopped clock is right twice a day.

I emailed Martin and asked for his views about guns. He said that we need stricter gun control laws.
