It’s already been determined in another case that a police officer doesn’t have the authority to bring a trespassing charge on his own authority - the trespass request must come from an owner or other authority over the private property in question.

This sort of thing happened to Danladi Moore at a town-owned shopping venue when he was carrying openly, and he was charged with trespassing by an overzealous cop, and arrested. The case was ultimately thrown out. “School board property?” Same fact pattern. Officer Cheeks needs to be harshly disciplined.

That is why I posted earlier that the claim “You will be charged with trespassing” didn’t sound right. Anyway, he sounds more like Pual Blart.

A real cop would have said you will be charged with disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful command of a pece officer.
