SACRAMENTO, Calif. A woman who was snatched from a bus stop as an 11-year-old child in 1991 turned up at a California police station after 18 mysterious years, and a convicted sex offender and his wife were arrested in the kidnapping.
*snip*
Phillip Garrido was sentenced to 50 years in prison and served nearly 11 years in Nevada for a federal kidnapping conviction, said Suzanne Pardee, a spokeswoman for Nevada state prisons.

I’m watching the news conference, he fathered two children with Jaycee..absolutely disgusting. Can only imagine the hell she went through
Sad...very, very sad.
Via news conference - there were several sheds in the back yard where he kept Jaycee and her two daughters.
via news conference - age of two daughers 11 and 15. Never allowed to leave back yard. Did not attend school.
Thanks. I don’t have TV. Is this a national news conference?
Hanging seems like the only fitting punishment.
He is listed on the sex offender registry as a rape conviction

50 years and only 11 years served. What kind of a moron judge released him.
and NO one ever caught on?
What a horrible, horrible life these poor 3 lived. How will they ever have a normal life?
This is when we need good old cowboy days justice.
Worse yet, he was paroled and still had this girl captive...
Don’t know, I am in the area so it is local for me.
All 3 of these girls will have a whole world open to them now. It could be overwhelming. I hope they are treated well by the press. They don’t don’t need an invasive circus.
What is worse is he was on parole and it is reported the parole officer checked up on him. I guess they never talked to the neighbors or went into the back yard.
I agree.
So his wife “kept” her for him. The wife deserves what this country won’t give her because of the Constitution. Jail won’t equal the torture they put these children through.
In the presser, the Sherriff said that the girls were kept in a screened-off portion of the yard. He said it was really quite unusual, but you could visit the house and go into the back yard without realizing that this area was even there. Couldn't be seen from the neighbors either.
Really odd.
Apparently he was paroled in 1988 and Jaycee was taken in 1991.
From another thread:
Garrido was paroled from a Nevada state prison on June 8, 1999
Mathematically that doesn’t work. If he was released in 99 and served 11 years, he was in prison when Jaycee was abducted. Can you check the link in post 8? I don’t have the necessary update so it won’t load.
Yeah...I checked that link, but it doesn’t have dates.
