Fox: MA Governor Patrick said to be ready to sign All Dems All the Time Legislation
Fox News Channel | 8/27/09

Posted on 08/27/2009 10:29:39 AM PDT by pabianice

Just on Fox, a discussion of what's happening in Boston as the state gears-up for the canonization of Ted Kennedy (the "Liberal Lion of the Senate".) According to Fox, the head of the MA Republican Party is getting ready to seek an injunction to stop Gov. Deval Patrick from signing a singularly outrageous piece of legislation. According to Fox, sources say the MA Legislature needs just one day to write and pass a rewrite of the Ted Kennedy No Republicans Ever in Massachusetts Bill which, in 2004, revoked the governor's right to appoint a senator to finish the term of an absent one, followed by a special election 4-6 months down the line. This was what the Dems demanded when the state had a Republican governor and it looked like Hanoi John Kerry would be elected president. Now, the Dems are demanding that Patrick appoint another Kennedy to fill Ted's seat until the special election. And maybe do away with the pesky special election all together.

Clearly, the goal is to ensure that the Dems have 60 votes to lock the Republicans out of the US Senate and just pass whatever they want for ObamaCare. On top of which, the Dems are reported elsewhere to be about to "go nuclear" and do away with the 60 vote requirement to stop a fillibuster. The Dems are demanding that ObamaCare/KennedyCare be passed as a tribute to Ted Kennedy, despite his being seen by many as the addled, drunken embarrassment from Hyannisport.

I expect the MA Dems to change the law, appoint someone at least as lunatic Left as Ted, and then allow the US Senate to do whatever it wants. Clearly, someone will soon be replacing Byrd, too.

that’s because it’s not a democracy - it’s a republic....well, at least for now. Of course, that is all subject to change.

The Catholic church should have excommunicated Ted Kennedy decades ago. If the Catholic church was smart they should refuse to perform a catholic funeral ceremony for Kennedy.

Par for the course, change the rules in the middle of the game when you perceive you can’t win fairly.

Our Republic is under assault from socialists and elitists like those in Massachusetts and will CEASE to be the “best damn country in the world” IF we don’t do something about it!

RenaVA= 27 August 2009. Welcome to Free Republic.

Either way.... our freedom is dying. We are now slaves to the elite.

Yes, I agree with that it is a “Republic” for now. If Obama and the Democraps have their way they would make us another socialist country like Russia, Cuba, China, and North Korea.

A poster on another thread commented that changing the rules AFTER the seat becomes vacant is an ex post facto law, Patrick will be ripe for a court challenge if there is anyone willing to do it (pubbies will probably opt to play nice to avoid negative media coverage).

The "ex post facto" clause of the Constitution only applies to criminal cases.

If I didn’t know better, I’d swear this was satire. It just wouldn’t surprise me to see the Mass Dems pass a bill outlawing the Republican Party and making it illegal to run for office as a Republican.
