Cat's Paw: "One used by another as a tool" (Merriam-Webster)
With news of Eric Holder deciding to appoint a special prosecutor (based on a CIA inspector general's 5-year old report on allegations that Agency interrogators may have handled a few Al-Qaeda baddies a little roughly) to root around the CIA's undies drawer, the mask is finally fully off the Attorney General's radical leftist ideology, not that it really came as a surprise to many of us.
Attorney General Holder has a long history of sympathy for radical causes and beliefs and there just doesn't seem to be any other way to frame his behaviors. This latest move clearly demonstrates hostility to the idea that the nation has a right to defend its citizens using harsh -- though by no means excessively harsh -- techniques in both interrogations and in direct action against radical jihadists.
Holder, though, engaging in the pretzel logic already made so famous by many a member of Mr. Obama's team these days, has determined that compromising national security (is there anybody who thinks field operative identities and intelligence-gathering sources and methods aren't going to be revealed in all this?) is an acceptable outcome, as long as he and his boss come out on the winning end of things.
What's for sure is that the blowback -- to use an intelligence community term -- will eventually be horrendous. It may not happen soon, but the cumulative weight of such insults to the nation's ability to seek out, find and then spoil enemy actions against this country is incredible and unsustainable in the long run.
Its just too bad that the only folks who'll be paying for these insults are ordinary citizens and folks in the operations side of the house over at the CIA.
