I've been saying for years. Let the States "nullify" un-Constitutional mandates. What is the Fedgov going to do if the States decide NOT to adhere to such mandates and not send their tax dollars to DC?

What would happen? Civil War II?
I believe not. It's a different time; different thinking; different feelings; different politics.

Revolutionary War II? Again,...too many differences.

Most likely the Fedgov would have to give in. Does anyone really believe that the Military, under orders of the Executive Branch, would KILL their own families in this era? This is not the 1800's - never happen.

Plus, the Governors of any rebellious States could maintain control over their State National Guard, not to mention the 100's of thousands of armed Patriots standing by. RWII will not happen as long as the States continue on this path.

I am finally encouraged for our Republic to see so many States (37?) passing resolutions regarding States' rights via the 10th Amendment. Although resolutions are non-binding, it says a lot about the current thinking of the individual States.

This is a cause we should all support! This is our way back to the Founding Fathers' brilliance for limited federal governance.

There wouldn't be a second Civil war because I believe a majority of the military would agree with the States. I don't think the leftist in the country have nearly enough supporters who would be willing to fight an actual war for their cause.

The States can do this because they will have more support than the federal government and most of the people who support the feds would still not be willing to go to war.

You are vastly underestimating the lengths at which people will go to hold onto power. It may come to exactly that. Some Americans are no different that the Hugo Chavezs' of the world. Power corrupts the thinking of the unprincipled.

The federal government has been centralizing power in itself as the rights of states and individuals are taken away by damn fool politicians who hate God, country and family.
This President is a typical elitist and thief and liar and is quite mad with power lust and wants to be a typical dictator who is trying to consolidate all power into D.C. with the support of the evil Congress and judicial powers who are in cahoots with obamanation.
The states need to stand together against the power grab of the D.C. marxist politicians and overthrow their snares and curbs on liberties and freedoms of the individual American citizen. I would like the states to throw out all dictates on taxation and get rid of the NEA that has destroyed education and made schools just a daycare center that brainwashes children into the lies of liberalism.

You forgot the local and state police - but I don’t believe they would open fire on their neighbors, friends and family’s.

Entirely symbolic, but a start, nonetheless. Now, let's have some state laws requiring presidential candidates to provide documentary evidence of constitutional eligibility, so we can get this "Natural Born Citizen" issue before the SCOTUS.

This issue is casting doubt on the legitimacy of the current POTUS. We simply cannot have that.

BRAVO!! I agree, there won’t be a civil war. States just need to do exactly as you said, just start ignoring all these stupid Federal mandates, states need to collect their own portion of the federal income tax and only send to the fed govt taxes to cover expenses for laws and organizations (national military, interstate highways, etc.) that are actually constitutionally appropriate.

At some point abolish the Federal income tax but at least first things first. I think the states could go a long way toward taking our country back. Let California & Massachusetts stay ultra liberal if they want! Just don’t drag the rest of the country down with them!

I would love to see conservative states “just say no” to all the idiotic Federal mandates regarding public education. Let each state decide for themselves how they want to educate their kids with no federal intervention in public schools or universities. If states held back a large percentage of the money they are sending to Washington, people would have so much more spending money that they could use for their own kids for private education, college education, etc. Businesses would thrive and they would be awash in funds that could be donated to solid universities that are doing great engineering, research, etc.

Let states decide if they want to opt out of Medicare, Medicaid, Social security, if they want to keep it, or if they want to scale it back or increase it. Let each state chart its own course and we could have 50 different experiments in free market capitalism, socialism, or some combination. People and businesses would be free to move to the areas that appealed to them.

I don't know about this.

George Wallace may have thought exactly the same thing and the guard came in and showed him something different.

Kill us? - Perhaps not, but put us down and control us?

I believe 100% that this would be exactly what they would do.
Without being willing to use force, we would lose everything.
The states would have to plan for armed resistance, and that is illegal itself.
The powers that be a legal creatures and I can't see them having the temerity to do any of that.

Sorry. IMHO, This has already been settled.
The People's Republik of Kalifornia legalized medical marijuana - and the Feds said “no” and enforced it.
I don't see how this could have a different outcome. Maybe if the sheriff and police departments of the PRK withheld cooperation from DEA or blocked them, but the precedent has been set. Federal laws and agencies trump state laws.
