Taylor: ‘Blue Dogs have done America a great favor’ (Mississippi)
Leader Call ^ | August 25, 2009 | David Owens

Posted on 08/26/2009 10:28:10 AM PDT by Islander7

U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor (D-Miss.) received two standing ovations Tuesday from the Laurel Rotary Club as he voiced criticism of President Obama’s drive to reform health care.

“The Blue Dogs (Democrats who often vote Republican) have done America a great favor by delaying the vote,” said Taylor, a member of the group, who noted he is voting against the bill. “I don’t think we have the money for that. I’ve always thought something worth doing is worth paying for.”

Taylor said the health care debate is a timely issue, adding that Americans must realize there is cost involved.

“We all have a budget to go buy clothes, a car or a house, but when it comes to health care and it’s someone you love, what do you tell the doctor when something goes wrong,” he asked. “You’ll do whatever it takes to make that person better.”

Taylor said Americans also think of Medicare as something that has always been there, although its origins trace back only to the 1960s.

Finally, Taylor said he wants to remove the anti-trust exemption from the insurance companies.

“Only two things have an anti-trust exemption — Major League Baseball, which I could live without, and insurance,” he said. “But, there’s a state law that says I have to have collision insurance to operate a car in Mississippi. The federal government also requires those that live in the flood plain to have flood insurance. Removing that exemption would contribute to substantial savings.”

A former state senator, Taylor said he’s also moving to have bills in Congress be presented in plain language similar to how it’s done in Mississippi.

Taylor and other dhimmis of his ilk talk conservative back home, then go to DC and vote to elect a hyper-leftist like Nancy P. as Speaker.

For the life of me, I think I’ll never understand why voters like those in Taylor’s District don’t see thru this sort of kabuki performance.

Before we go pinning medals on the Blue Dogs, we might want to keep in mind what Dr. Screamento said on the Morning Joe last week:
"So the Blue Dogs have played a great role. They made the House bill a lot better. They made it much better for small businesses. If you have a payroll less than $500,000 and you're a small business now, you don't have any responsibility for healthcare anymore. That's a big deal.
(Source: Howard Dean on August 17, 2009 Morning Joe)
We don't need no stinkin' favors like that.

We are working very hard to expose the truth about Taylor of MS District 4.

Fire Gene Taylor

"....Ya’ll politics is reporting that Gene Taylor apparently confused Cialis with Ambien earlier this month while discussing the generic drug market at a Town Hall Meeting. Why does the Congressman have Cialis on his mind?..."

I’m posting articles, not awarding medals. I’ve never voted for this carpetbagger, never will.

Not saying you are. It was directed at Congressman Taylor and anyone else who is considering the Blue Dogs for sainthood because of what they’re doing on national healthcare.

I disagree with your general characterization of Gene Taylor. You may not recall that he voted in favor of Articles of Impeachment against Bill Clinton. That took some guts for a fellow party member. Don’t get me wrong - I’d rather have a conservative GOPer, but as Dems go he’s as good as we can expect.

The Blue Dogs need to apply for protection under the endangered species act.

I disagree strongly. The impeachment vote was a "freebie" that didn't have any effect on taxes, national security, or any other substantive policy you and I care about. It was a totally symbolic action, and his cynical Democrat colleagues in the leadership knew it was nothing more than a sop to the voters back home.

By contrast, Gene's habitual voting to elect Nancy P. as Speaker has real consequences. It's virtually a total negation of the sham conservative kabuki dance he does in Laurel or Gulfort or Hattiesburg or Pascagoula when he appears before an audience of hometown good ole boys.

Even if Taylor had voted against Nancy Pelosi for Speaker, voting for Taylor or any other Blue Dog is a vote to hand the Dems the majority. When you vote for Taylor, you are voting for Pelosi, Barney Frank, Henry Waxman, John Conyers, Maxine Waters...the list goes on and on.

Gene Taylor is a world class phony. He got a standing ovation from his fellow Socialists for voting for Pelosi for Speaker in 2007, all the while giving the finger to his constituents in a district that is one of the most Republican in the nation. This jackass needs to be a top target for next year.
