O’Reilly looked like he had gas when discussing this. He obviously swallowed the leftist koolaid that Bush was a silver spoon draft dodger. He was interested in pursuing why Bush first said he did not volunteer TO GO (AS AN INFANTRYMAN) and then did volunteer to go (AS A FIGHTER PILOT)
I can tell you from experience, if joining the Air Force in the 1960’s and early 1970’s made you a “draft dodger” then we have a LOT of us!
That's the way I saw it, too. I don't watch Bill very often these days, but tuned in last night to watch the Dennis Miller segment, and saw this segment as well. Bill had me gagging...
“if joining the Air Force in the 1960s and early 1970s made you a draft dodger then we have a LOT of us!”
And, a supreme slap in the face of every Airmen ever.
That angle implies that Air Force is not as important or valiant as the other War Fighters. It’s truly heinous.
And though service “rivalries” exist, they are (generally) of a fraternal nature. My uncle did 3 tours (Army, Special Forces) and I *know* for fact that there were several times where air support is probably why he’s still alive.
I guaran-damn-tee that when put back-to-back, every Marine, Airmen, or Infantrymen would identify themselves as one thing: brothers.
I call them all (Guardsmen too) something simpler: patriots, period.
O’Reilly is a suck a$$, anyway. His act is really over done and filled to the brim with cynicism. This is a minor difference between him and the Mapes and Rathers of the world.
