Found this TK quote online. Does anyone know if he really said it?

"I just couldn't bear the thought of anyone drowning in a river while trying to make a better life for themselves." --- Senator Ted Kennedy speaking on amnesty for those crossing the Rio Grande.

A few years back he named his dog "Splash".That fact alone makes this quote completely credible,IMO.

I don’t know. It would not surprise me me. If he did say it, then obviously his memory was already starting to go because there was no need for him to bear it. He has his own personal memory that informed him of such an event and he bore it with flying colors.
