One woman asked why McCain and his fellow Republicans did not reform health care during the Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush or George W. Bush administrations, when Republicans had the same power and control the Democrats have now.
We should have done more, theres no question, McCain said. We should have done more, but there is plenty of responsibility to go around. We need to work on a bipartisan basis. Thats what we need to be doing now, too. The time is now to make this happen.
Another member of the audience told McCain health care is fine the way it is and to go back to Washington, D.C., and propose that Congress leave it alone.
With all due respect, maam, I cant just go back to Washington and suggest we do nothing because our children and our grandchildren need health care and Social Security, too, McCain said. Lets have some straight talk here, my friends, lets have some real straight talk. The system is broken. I hope you appreciate that to do nothing would be unacceptable.

The system is broken because statist meddlers broke it.
I swear, McCain's type of stupid is incurable.

It’s too bad this fool’s parachute opened when he was shot down in ‘Nam.
What a complete loser.....
Here’s some straight talk for you McLame. I hate your guts, you’re an asshole, and I want to smash you in the face with a brick.
I wish McLame would be subjected to the same kind of health care he wants to stick us with. With that kind of care we would finally be rid of this bastard. He would of died two years ago of cancer.
Thanks for your post, “Any Republican that wants bipartisanship or believes in compromise needs to be voted out of office “
McCain has some words that he uses over and over that make me want to holler “ralph” into the toilet every time he says them.
My friends
Bipartisanship
Hands across the aisle
Comprehensive immigration reform.
McCain has just become another actor on the phony political stage in Washington. For him to be kissy-sucky with light in the loafers Gramnesty tells a lot about this man.
It really is a shame. McCain served our country honorably, was a prisoner of war who underwent extremely harsh punishment, and could have gotten out of that prison by giving in just a little to his captors. To his great credit, he did not cave.
Straight talk my tukus!
If McCain was being honest (a real conservative) he would recommend TORT REFORM, getting rid of UNFUNDED MANDATES for insurers, allowing INTERSTATE COMPETITION etc.
I wish he would go away.
1. They can point out that states can have their own, independent, not one-size-fits-all programs if they want to - something like "States are laboratories of democracy - don't nationalize our health care!"
Don't let Federal government bankrupt your state with Universal Health Care... ... when you can do that to your own state yourself!
2. Where is at least one "shadow Senator" who would run in the primaries against John McCain and would criticize and make known McCain's votes, initiatives and ideas (or lack of them) and provide his own, opposite or more constructive views? It's a great way for someone(s) to gain visibility and credibility and "political capital" without spending a lot of money, and become a go-to person and serious opponent in the primary and/or general election.
Every elected RINO and/or "conservative Democrat" in conservative states and districts should have at least one "shadow Representative" or "shadow Senator" to be ready to take on those who do not serve constituents' interests and put their feet to the fire of scrutiny, so they can't get away with being duplicitous - one person in D.C., another at home. And that's how constituents will know who really deserves their vote in the primaries and general elections.
If Arizona / McCain doesn't have a "shadow Senator" by now, then when? ... and in that case, is not all of this really just "full of sound of fury, signifying nothing"?
Unforunately, until people in AZ find a good, strong conservative who can win against him in the primary, there’s not much we can do.
Geez, I hope AZ votes him out.
McPain says “my friends” every other sentence like a teenie bopper says “like, you know” or “dude” every other sentence. Grates on the nerves like sandpaper. He may have served his country honorably when he fought in Vietnam and was a prisoner under the commies all those years, but he talks like a condescending schoolmarm or headmaster “correcting” his students.
He's done more to hurt the Republican base than any other politician in American history, and he's done it for nothing more than a few kind words in a lousy liberal news paper.
I can't understand why anyone votes for this back stabber. Do they have some kind of a death wish or something?
But the Dems have proven time and again that they will not work on a bipartisan basis, unless they are out of power. Then, it is something they demand and demand loudly. They demand that we COMPROMISE! Republicans capitulate. When Dems return to power, bipartisanship simply means "you must agree with us"!
Good point!
: )
Hey McCain ! Did it ever occur to you that Obama is a third world communist dictator? No? Oh, okay.
We’re gonna try.
The man has become a self parody. His own words can’t be topped.
A bipartisan effort to destroy the Constitution I cannot support.
You can kiss my hindquarters, you lousy, worthless RAT wannabe.
Try hard.
:)
