Glenn Beck, the conservative commentator and star of one of the most successful shows on Fox News, is under attack. And as Rush Limbaugh has repeatedly proved, under attack is the best place for a conservative commentator to be. It allows the blusterer to play victim and it gives a savvy spin doctor a chance to rile up his base.
First, lets get you up to speed. Last month, Glenn Beck told the hosts of Fox & Friends that President Barack Obama has a deep-seated hatred for white people. That statement apparently wasnt explicit enough, so Beck made sure everyone understood his point: This guy is, I believe, a racist, he said.
Plenty of folks on the left have accused Beck of treason for his comments. But lets give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume his internal filtering mechanism was temporarily disabled. What is the appropriate response to that kind of rhetoric? For his part, Bill Shine, Foxs senior vice president of programming, told TVNewser that Beck had expressed a personal opinion which represented his own views, not those of the Fox News Channel.
But that wasnt enough for some of Becks advertisers, who began this week to pull spots from The Glenn Beck Program. Among the companies that removed advertising were Progressive, Geico, Radio Shack and Roche. Meanwhile, a political group called ColorOfChange.org is circulating a petition, asking consumers to boycott Becks show.
Beck is on a campaign to convince the American public that President Obamas agenda is about serving the needs of Black communities at White peoples expense. Its repulsive, divisive and shouldnt be on the air. Join us in calling on Becks advertisers to stop sponsoring his show, the petition reads.

Thank you for the article. I agree. And why should Fox give up, or want to give up, it’s third highest rated show.
Liberals have said far worse!
Glenn Beck Strikes back.
It only took a few days for Becks own PR machine to kick into gear. His supporters have created websites such as DefendGlenn.com and SupportGlennBeck.com and taken to message board and blogs to argue their case.
Another website SupportGlennBeck.com writes: It is time to show these companies that the hard-working Americans who support Glenn are willing to boycott their products and stand on principle.
Let’s not kid ourselves. The advertisers on their own probably didn’t notice. Rahm Emmanuel probably called for a list of sponsors of “The Glenn Beck Show” within 48 hours and worked behind the scenes to bring the boom down on Beck.
That is Rahm’s way. Rahm really missed his calling. He was born 30 years too late and his vocation should have been as a plumber at the Watergate Hotel. This guy is as bad as anybody in the Nixon Administration. My bet is that Rahm will replace Gordon Liddy one day selling gold coins on cable channels.
Beck’s ratings are skyrocketing ...
This weeks show are a must watch.
Meanwhile Beck took a week off and came out swinging and connecting hard.
I’m still looking for articles about advertisers pulling their ads from Krazy Keith Olbermann’s BashBushFest. No luck so far.
Sargento’s cheese was on sale at 2/$4.00 when I was at the market earlier...didn’t see a lot of Communists crowded around loading their carts, though...
Add Sargento cheese to the list. I will no longer buy that product.
NAH....Rahm really was born about 70 years to late....he fits right into the Nazi generation....
Beck should get Rev. Manning on his show soon .
He should also get Tom DeLay and Dick Chenny after RushBo...
and if he beats Oh’Really in the process so much the better...
Apparently these people forgot the saying about the foolishness of starting arguments with people who buy ink by the barrel or, in a modern sense, control a good chunk of the cable news business.
I guess if advertisers dropped Glenn Beck because they didn’t support this comment, I must conclude that they supported all the things he said before!
Wow!
Beck’s comments were stupid and out of line. There’s no evidence that President Obama has any hatred for white people. The closest you could come to backing that up is the rantings of Rev. Jeremiah Wright — except that we all know Obama wasn’t really going to church and sitting through sermons (by Wright or anybody else). Beck should focus on real problems with Obama, chiefly that he’s deeply devoted to socialism (which, we should not forget, is a belief system which was invented by some white guys).
OooRah!
Great idea! Have you put that on your TV show yet...
You are certifiably insane if you look at the history of Odumbo and his feelings toward whites. You need look no further than the demeaning way he referred to his own Grandmother as a “typical white person”. You can look also to Odumbos reaction to the Gates affair with “the police acted stupidly” remark. It was so off the cuff and natural for him to say it, it came as a complete surprise to HIM that anyone thought twice about what was said! Remember the lines from his book, THAT HE EVEN NARRATED, “White mans greed ...”
You are in denial.
So white guys invented socialism???? Why ever would minorities rush to embrace a “white mans ideology” when whitey is the cause of all the world’s problems?
Makes no sense. But racist attitudes tend to be over the edge when it fits an agenda.
