The man who took the decision to free the Lockerbie bomber from jail on compassionate grounds accused him yesterday of breaking an undertaking not to celebrate his release.
Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi, the Libyan convicted of the bombing, had shown no sensitivity to the families of those who died, Kenny MacAskill, Scotlands Justice Secretary, told the Scottish Parliament. It was the first time that Scotlands Nationalist administration has joined the condemnation of the triumphal scenes.
Aware that Britain is caught in the cross-hairs of international outrage, Gordon Brown is expected today to urge Libya not to fête al-Megrahi further. Appearing before the cameras for the first time in weeks, Mr Brown will hold talks at No 10 with Binyamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, before taking questions from the press. Although Mr Brown is expected to issue a robust defence of his principled decision that the release was a matter only for the devolved Scottish government, diplomatic efforts are being made to restore Britains battered credibility among allies, including the US.
Amid a rumble of accusations that Britain connived at the release in return for trade deals with oil-rich Libya, aides said last night that Mr Brown was likely to disclose how he had demanded assurances from Tripoli that al-Megrahi would not be fêted in the celebrations on Tuesday to mark the 40th anniversary of Colonel Muammar Gaddafis seizure of power.

Of course Abdelbaset Al-Megrahi would break his promise not to celebrate following his release, because you cannot trust Muzzie Mass Murderers like him.
It would have been better to honor his oath by getting kicked off an RAF C-130 over the Mediterranean with a tangled parachute rather than come home alive.
My god, if you trust a terrorist to keep his word, just who can you trust?
If you can not trust
A murdering terrorist,
Who, then, can you trust?
“I thought I could trust a mass murderer not to break an unenforceable contract.”
How does Scotland, or the UK, fire its Justice Minister?
Obviously this moron never heard of the concept of taqiyya (sp?) in the Koran, which allows a believer to lie to an infidel (that’s us, Kenny).
Beat you by 17 seconds
This is hilarious. Watching a bunch of third rate political hacks trying to spin their way out of this is like watching bugs hit the zapper. ZZZZT!
I guess that means you will just have to lock him back up again. Please go get him.
Government?/s
Polly swallowed a time bomb, and now Polly ticks.
And you believed him???? LOL...oh please
No wonder the UK is spinning around the toilet drain... they let in the son of Khaddafi but no Geert Wilders or Michael Savage.
They trust terrorists.
Let the crowd of muzzies celebrate that.
Muslim terrorists lied to the infidel?? I’m shocked! Never saw that coming.
Do the Scots realize how absolutely stupid this makes the whole country look?
Time to wave a signed paper, and announce “Peace in our time!”....
