And yet, the VA isn't the worst. My mother was told by her GP that all her aches, and pains and even lumps were just because she was too heavy. So, on a day trip to Minneapolis, she dropped by the VA hospital (WAVE/WWII) and they didn't let her go home until the surgeon could cut out as much cancer as possible.

Choice is what matters, the closed medical community in small towns can be deadly too.

My mother (aged75) was told her back ache was because of age and her doctor got her addicted to morphine for the pain...she finally saw another doctor (after 4 years of her treatments) and he told her, her back was broken in 4 places...He hooked her up with a surgeon and he fixed 3 of the breaks...the fourth fused itself after so many years of neglect. She still has some pain...but it is manageable. Her first Dr should be run out of business...quack/drug pusher
