My Mother passed away from ALS in March 2008. She went relatively quick, only 2.5 years. I know another guy that lingered for 9 years. His last working muscle that he controlled was one eyelid. He communicated with that one eyelid. He finally asked to be taken off of a breather and feeding tube.

Yes. My Aunt. Identical story. So very sad. A lovely and vibrant personality in the form of an extremely active lady struck down hard and quickly by ALS. It was a real head spinner for all the family.
