A famous physicist once said that "physics is what all physicists of the world carry in their heads." That is, outside of the people there is no science.
Quite similarly, the Constitution matters only if people find it important. By their votes they have demonstrated for over 50 years that they do not. For decades now, the students of Harvard Law School hear that Constitution is a "living document" --- WITHOUT a single opposing view. Note also that Harvard Law supplied over 20% of Supreme Court Justices in our history.
More specifically to the issue at hand, the Nation has showed by its vote that it did NOT care about the Constitution. It is a sacred document and a sacred idea for you and me, but not for the majority of Americans.
For crying out loud, one half of people cannot find their own country on the map and have no idea who their vice president or Secretary of State are --- and you really think that they care about the Constitution and know what it really says?
