Phil Spector writes about life behind bars

Music legend Phil Spector, in prison for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, has been writing letters about his life behind bars — saying in a letter released Wednesday that he fears for his safety and would like to be moved to "a better prison."

Spector wrote to his friend Steve Escobar, a musician and music journalist, of his chagrin at being in the same prison as notorious murderers including Charles Manson and Sirhan Sirhan.

He said he is working with his attorneys "to get a better prison with people more like myself in it during the appeal process instead of all these lowlife scumbags, gangsters and Manson types....They'd kill you here for a 39-cent bag of soup!"

That is 39-cents more than why he killed a person!

“to get a better prison with people more like myself in it.”

Sounds to me like he is in a prison with people like himself.

People like himself? Manson would qualify. He jammed with the Beach Boys and auditioned for the Monkees. They could put together a prison band.

He should feel right at home with fellow musician Charlie Manson at Corcoran.

Spector seems like a real creep and jerk to me.

He probably deserves to be where he is.

Perhaps he should just talk to the concierge about his accomodations.

Apparently his ‘wall of sound’ doesn’t work in prison.

I would think that while in prison it would not be wise to criticize the quality of one’s fellow guests.

Gee, ya think maybe this breathtaking arrogance, conceit and contempt for anybody who isn’t HIM just might have something to do with WHY HE’S IN PRISON IN THE FIRST PLACE??!!
