“It is the responsibility of the patriot to protect his country from it’s government.” – Thomas Paine

The government needs to relearn its place.

Big Brother is not about to “relearn” his place until WE THE PEOPLE teach him what that place is in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS.

We have two enemies to freedom in this country today - Liberal communist politicians and their enabling media.
Even Fox News is feeding the problem with “softball” questions and avoiding the real hidden agendas in Obamas pograms.
Citizens need to take back the media as well as Washington.

Pass it on.

The problem with our system is this -- there are MANY pockets of places in this country that actually PREFER Big government. They will continue to vote in the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Charles Rangel, Sheila Jackson Lee, etc. and we all have to live with their votes.

Wow. That first paragraph pretty well sums it up. Thanks for posting.

We signed on for change in Washington, and our leader is not cracking down on the Democratic Congress and its futile leadership, which has disappointed us for almost a decade.

I am sorry. To the people like this author who hint at "Buyer's Remorse" only now, I say this:

Anyone who even remotely believed that Obama would not have been anything beyond a raging Marxist Liberal when he got into office is either too stupid to vote, or mentally ill.

There was ample evidence of his ideology, associations, and lies well before the November election.

Terrific.

Everyone should put this up on the front of the refrigerator and read it once a week.

Blame enough to go around for both Dems and Repubs. Enough of the clueless blooksuckers in Washington.

There is a big job to be done here and I don’t know whether we have enough people with the courage to do it. I don’t have a good feeling about what the future holds for us as a nation.

Good article. As to the Paine quote, normally I do not try to correct any grammer/spelling here, but if we are to “pass it on” the apostrophe should be removed from “it’s”. It’s = it is.

Was Thomas Paine refering to the British government, or did he have ANY government in mind ?

His use of the word “patriot” seems to tell me that he was referring to the British government.

If you’re going to quote it, it’s “its place”

I believe that's wrong. The two enemies are:

1) Liberal communist politicians and their enabling media, and

2) The current GOP leadership.

What say you?

Yknow, I’ve been thinking about this.

It’s time for a new class of politicians. Those that don’t LIKE Washington DC. How to get there, though?

Then I think about the FairTax. Should we get the FairTax implemented, the Government’s income would be dictated by the people spending their own money, their own way, thus paying taxes in the process. This would give Legislature-dwellers the incentive to IMPROVE the business climate, and the consumption climate, to improve their tax income.

So, why not start giving bonuses to those that get the most onerous roadblocks to business removed? Have all politicians work for nothing, and when they remove some obstacle, they get paid a percentage of taxpayer dollars saved.

Just thinking out loud.

In fairness, the quote you refer to is not a conclusion/belief of the author of this article. The author was quoting from a Huffington Post blogger with the following:

We signed on for change in Washington, and our leader is not cracking down on the Democratic Congress and its futile leadership, which has disappointed us for almost a decade.

Thinking outside the box.

Imagine the citizens of this country as the owners of a company, and our elected officials, as the managers of this company.

In the business world, managers can suggest or encourage the company owners on a course of action, but should they act in a manner that damages the company, without approval of the ownership, they would be fired.

If our government were a business, many of our elected officials would be up on charges of embezzlement. If it were up to me, I'd fire them all and start fresh.

Here is a case were “management” gives itself raises with no ties to increased production or general benefit to the company. Where “management” constantly spends more than is budgeted and then has the gall to tell the owners that the issue is not that they are overspending, but that the owners did not give then a big enough budget to begin with.

We have a case where the “management” is telling the owners that they are just too ignorant to know how to run their own company and that the owners shoud just sit down, shut up, and hand over their wallets.

If “management” hadn't made themselves exempt from many of the laws they themselves enact, I think it wouldn't be too hard to prosecute them on RICO grounds.

The real job of “management” is to make the company better. When was the last time this happened?

Can you tell how disgusting I find the current “management”?

I think you’re on to it.

Also, in a war, the first strikes usually include communications, so put the media up there on the list.

Check out the European model!

VAT is applied to some classes of goods and not others (e.g. food, and “children’s clothes” - which means you are lucky if you wear small sizes) and the rate is varied up and (rarely) down at the government’s whim.

The government can still rig the system, and in some ways it is easier for them to do so.
