A prominent senator on the Veterans' Affairs Committee on Sunday called for hearings to scrutinize and consider suspending a guide for veterans' end-of-life care which one former Bush official says sends a "hurry-up-and-die" message to troops.
The guide, called "Your Life, Your Choices," was suspended under the Bush administration but has been revived under the current Department of Veterans Affairs.
Jim Towey, former director of the White House Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, told "FOX News Sunday" that the pamphlet makes injured veterans feel like a burden, encourages the severely injured to die and should be tossed out.
Asked about the document, Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa., said it raises "a lot of questions" and that he would call for hearings immediately.

Like specter cares...he is out plugging for Obamaie care, sunk in the polls and needs ‘good’ headlines....that’s all his ‘concern’ is.

Looks like Specter is running a little scared. About time.
I’ve had that “hurry up and die” feeling about Specter since ‘98
Tammy Duckworth, the Obama admin official that was interviewed by Chris Wallace on this matter did horribly, just horribly. She was in a tough position because the Obama administration was so clearly in the wrong here, she said a number of things that were just plain factually inaccurate, and Wallace called her on it.
This headline does not bode well for 0bama’s “phony death panels” talking points.
This is just getting to weird lately.
We need you when our country is in a jam but now that you’ve served, go off and die somewhere.
SWEET makes me want to go in the military.
Bump of Obama’s Duty to Die Document.
What death panels!?
Spector is blowing smoke. I don’t believe a word he says.
Watching Tammy Duckworth, who was on before Spector, I am still steaming.
But Duckworth lied repeatedly to Chris Wallace and he did not let it go.
To say that I am pi$$ed off is an understatement. I am absolutely infuriated by her lies. The best thing to happen to that cow was to put herself up as the token war vet for the Democrats. She wouldn’t be there otherwise. But she certainly is overstepping when she is pushing this booklet that asks if life is worth living in a wheelchair.
This b!tch is a disgrace.
I think (hope) that a lot of these guys will witness their political demise next year.
The people who come up with stuff like this are moral imbeciles.
About ten years ago Jesse Jackson was on a t.v. show and as he was leaving the stage, a very large spot light blew up.
Jackson turned white and hit the ground. Man he was scared.
I gots to believe a whole lot of garbage like Specter are very afraid about now too.
NOt a lot of love coming their way.
Personally I’m surprised you haven’t seen some real violence directed at some of these socialist turds. NOt that I’m advocating this nor would I partake.
The most recent Rasmussen poll shows Mr. Toomey leading Mr. Specter, 48%-36% among likely voters. Just two months ago, Mr. Specter was up, 50%-39%. The same poll has Mr. Toomey beating Mr. Specter’s Democratic primary opponent, Congressman Joe Sestak of the 7th district in suburban Philadelphia, in a general election matchup, 43%-35%. In June, Mr. Sestak led Mr. Toomey 41%-35%.

They have bright young staff, that know their schedules, make sure they are their on time, they are fed well, they help with pick out their clothes and they get to get an ego boost by being on TV.
The problem is we are paying a dear price so that they may feel good about themselves with all these perks.
It is time for him and so many others, to step aside, this move to look relevant screams of that...
Tammy Duckworth, an injured veteran who is the assistant secretary for the Department of Veterans Affairs, said the manual is still under revision and has not officially been “reinstated.”
She said it was one of many options for injured veterans, calling it “simply a tool.”
Tammy Duckworth is simply a tool....along with Shinseki, and Cleland before them.
