With Government Motors going into business, any good solid older vehicle still in use drove the general market for new cars down. Trade in the still serviceable cars with a super-sweet deal....boom!... instant demand.

I think that Obummer doesn't give a flying f___ if the dealers get paid or not. In fact, them not getting paid may be part of the plan. Gubmint Motors and Fiat/USA won't be hurt because the gubmint can just print money for them, but some private sector dealers may go under. Zero hates corporations, so that will be just fine by him.
Obozo wanted a bunch of poor people to get new cars, and they did. If they start defaulting on their loans, then watch Obama step in and use taxpayer $ to keep their cars from being repossessed.
